Hello,
yesterday I bought displayfusion pro license. So far I like it very much, but I also have 4 problems which I can't solve by myself.
I have Windows 8 with Start8 and 2 monitors, one 1920x1080 (primary), the other is 2560x1440 (secondary).

Problem number 1: I can't force Start button to work on secondary monitor. On primary Start button works as classic start from previous Windows systems, coz I set it like that. No matter what I do start button on secondary screen opens Windows 8 menu (Metro).

Problem number 2: Right now when I open applications on secondary screen they always open on primary screen unless the application was closed on secondary screen. I know I can force applications to open on specified monotor but I would really like applications to open on the monitor I am operating. I have some shortcuts on one screen and some on another. Is it is possible?

Problem number 3:Windows 8 Menu (Metro) - is it possible to choose on which monitor it will open? It always opens on primary screen. I would love to have a possibility of opening it on the screen I choose. And then when I click in Metro to open an application I would like to open it on the screen where Windows 8 Menu was active.

Problem number 4: I play games on primary screen (1920x1080). When Alt+Enter the game I can then drag it to the secondary screen. But when I maximize the game it comes back to primary screen. I can't force games in fullscreen mode to work on secondary screen. I even tried forcing some games to open on specified monitor and the result is rather funny: on primary monitor I have fullscreen game, on secondary I have windowed blackscreen game.

Thank you for your purchase!

#1: Can you check what you have the Windows key option set to in Start8? DisplayFusion uses a simulated Windows key press to open the Start menu, so if it's set to the Windows 8 Start Screen in Start8, that's what will open when you use the DisplayFusion Start button.

#2: You can create a Window Location rule for *.* which will force all new windows to open on the screen that the mouse cursor is currently on (which will be the monitor you clicked the shortcut on). Please see the attached screenshot for reference.

#3: On the Settings > Windows 8 tab, you can enable the "Use mini Start Screen option," which will resize the Start screen (or you can set the size to your full screen size) and also move it to the monitor that currently has the mouse cursor. Unfortunately it's not possible for us to force the location of Metro apps when they're launched.

#4: It's not possible to force full screen games to a monitor other than the Primary monitor. There are a couple of workarounds:
  • Change the Primary monitor before launching the game (you can speed this process up using DisplayFusion Monitor Configuration Profiles)
  • If the game has a windowed mode, you should then be able to move it to another monitor, but you'll have to leave it in windowed mode (as you already know :))

Hope that helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions at all.

Thank you very much for your help.

#1. I attached screenshot to show you my settings in Start8.
#2. That solves my problem, all applications open as I wanted!
#3. I enabled the "Use mini Start Screen" and set the size to 1920x1080, but I can't move it between screens or open it on secondary screen. I also tried with different sizes.
#4. Yes, that works :)

#1: Ok, you'll need to change the second drop-down to "Windows Key Shows Start8 Menu." If you still want to open the Windows 8 Start Screen using the Windows key, you can enable the "Show the Windows 8 menu when I press the right windows key" option. Unfortunately Start8 doesn't work when we try to invoke it with a simulated mouse-click, so DisplayFusion has to use a simulated Windows key press to open it before moving it.

#3: The Start screen should automatically move to which ever screen the mouse cursor is on when it's opened. So if you press the Windows key on the second monitor, it should open over on the second monitor.

#1: I am going to have to abandon the idea of having Start button on second screen because my keyboard has only one windows key. But it's fine as it is :)

#3: I can't make it work, but I managed to move Windows/Start screen to second monitor and I like it as it is.

Thanks again for your help! I really like DiplayFusion. It makes using two monitors so much easier! :)
