Since the latest beta update (5.1.1 beta 2) I am experiencing a scrolling problem with Adobe Acrobat XI. When scrolling in an unfocused window of Acrobat, the scrolling is hyper fast, making it hard to use. For example, instead of scrolling page by page, it will scroll 3-5 pages at a time. When the window is focused, scrolling works normally.

Has anyone seen this? The scroll issue for unfocused windows continues for me. It makes it very difficult (if not impossible to use) since the unfocused scroll flies through pages in a document (for example) incredibly rapidly. It is also occurring in more than Adobe Acrobat.

On the DisplayFusion Settings > Compatibility tab, could you try adding a rule for Acrobat, and enable the "Use alternate Mouse Scroll method" option in the rule to see if that helps?

When I do that, it will not scroll at all.

Ok, I'll grab a trial for Acrobat XI and do some testing here to see what I can find out. I'll keep you posted as soon as I have more news.

Thanks!

Just FYI - the scrolling problem in Acrobat persists in beta 3. By the way, it also occurs in Acrobat Reader XI.

Thanks, haven't had a chance to test it out yet but will be doing so next week. :)

That's fine. I just wanted to make sure you were updated as to any issues.

No worries! I finally had a chance to test this out, but it seems to work fine for me. I tested with 5.1.1 Beta 3 though, could you try out Beta 3 if you haven't already.

I'm not sure why, but I keep getting this odd scroll behavior. I have narrowed it down to Display Fusion - I unchecked the "Allow the mouse wheel to scroll" option, and then installed a similar program (WizMouse) and the scroll on unfocused window behavior was fine (including for Adobe Acrobat). Not sure why this is happening.

Ok, were you able to try the latest DisplayFusion 5.1.1 beta to see if this issue still occurred? I wasn't able to reproduce it here.

I was able to reproduce on 5.1.1. beta 5.

It occurs when I attempt to unfocus scroll a PDF in Acrobat XI (full paid version). Narrowing the issue down - I do not see the same problem when unfocus scrolling a PDF in Adobe Reader (free version).

Odd.

Ok, I'm still not able to reproduce it here, but I'm going to investigate further and see if there's any more info we can grab from you that would help troubleshoot further. I'll keep you posted!

I'm also seeing this behavior, but in a variety of programs: Foxit Reader, Word, and Foobar2000. In Foxit Reader, it seems to scroll two full pages and in Word it seems to scroll one full page. This is not a 100% consistent issue.

I am also experiencing this in some other programs - namely Word. The really odd thing is that the scrolling problem is inconsistent, even to the extent that it happens in Adobe Acrobat (full version), but not Adobe Acrobat Reader (free version).

I'm going to do some more testing here with the other programs to see if I can reproduce it with at least one of them, and we'll go from there :)

I'll keep you guys posted as soon as I have more news.

Thanks!

I still haven't been able to reproduce this issue with any of the applications listed in this thread. Tested on Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. In Control Panel > Mouse > Wheel, what do you guys have the Vertical Scrolling option set to? Mine's default at 3 lines.

Could you guys attach a copy of your Troubleshooting info (it's in C:\users\username\AppData\Roaming\DisplayFusion\DebugInfo.hml). I still can't reproduce this here, so I'm going to need to compare your setups to see if I can find something in common.

Thanks!

Thanks Fred! I noticed that you and another fellow who emailed in are both running 7 Taskbar Tweaker. Could you attach a screenshot of your 7 Taskbar Tweaker settings window?

Thanks Fred! Doesn't look like 7 Taskbar Tweaker is related, but the good news is, I've been able to reproduce this issue here. For me, it seems to depend which window does have focus. For example, if Internet Explorer is the currently active window, the unfocused scrolling works fine. But if Solitaire is the active window, the unfocused scrolling seems to scroll twice as far as it should.

Just wanted to update you on what I found, and to let you know that now that we can reproduce the issue, we should be able to get it fixed up :)

I'll let you know as soon as we have a beta with the issue fixed up!

Thanks, Keith. I appreciate your hard work. You have a great program, and that is why I recommend it to anyone I know that uses two monitors! (One of my co-workers just bought.

Keith,
Any progress on this issue? It looks like there is a similar thread with Adobe Lightroom.

None yet, but the Lightroom one definitely could be related as well. We'll post an update in this topic as soon as we do have more news.

Thanks!

Not yet, but it's on our list for the next major version, so we'll hopefully have some news for you before we release the next version :)

I actually just had another customer with this issue report that it's fixed in 6.0 Beta 2. Would you be able to give it a try from the link below and let me know how it works out?

Thanks!

It appears to be fixed for Word, Chrome and other programs, but not Adobe Acrobat XI. I still get the incredibly quick scrolling that skips huge chunks of the document.

I spoke too soon. The scrolling problem is back (intermittently, but more often than not) on numerous programs.

Ok, thanks for the update. We hadn't specifically changed anything to fix the issue, so I was surprised to hear that it was fixed :)

The ticket is still open and we'll let you know as soon as we're able to get it all fixed up.

Edit: My apologies, this will be fixed in Beta 4, not the current Beta 3. Sorry for the false alarm :)

We've just released a new DisplayFusion beta version and this issue should be all fixed up. Please let us know if you run into any trouble after updating.

Thanks!

If not, when is the next beta expected?

Haha, yeah, there was an issue with Beta 3 that forced us to push out Beta 4 quickly :)

Glad to hear the scrolling is all good now!
