Hello

I have a problem with display fusion. After running for some time the program gets slow and sluggish to a point that it's impossible to use, only way I found fixing it (temporarily) is by restarting the program. but i have to restart it at least 3-4 times a day.
I am currently on windows 8.1
I've uploaded an attachment from my troubleshooting tab from Display Fusion

Thanks in Advance
N.C.

When it gets slow again, can you check the Windows Task Manager before restarting DisplayFusion to see if the DisplayFusion.exe CPU or Memory usage is high?

Ok, looks like it's maxing out one CPU core, which would probably explain the slowness. Could you try disabling the following features (restarting DF in between each one) to try and figure out which feature is causing the CPU to run up?
  • Application Hooks (Settings > Advanced Settings)
  • Taskbars (Settings > Taskbar)
  • TitleBar Buttons (Settings > Functions)
  • Window Location (Settings > Window Location)
  • Centre child window over parent (Settings > Window Management)

Thanks!

Well after disabling taskbars DF stopped being slow and sluggish. So that must be the problem. Any ideas on how to fix it?

Interesting! If you re-enable the taskbar, but disable the Start Button and System Tray through the right-click > Multi-Monitor taskbar submenu on the DisplayFusion taskbar, does the CPU usage still go up?

Thanks!

Without the start button and system tray it does behave better but still a little bit laggy. The average CPU usage is around 7% and 100 MB of ram.

Edit: after leaving it for a bit more time going without the start button and the system tray the CPU went up to 14% and the ram at 127MB

Ok, interesting! If you disable the taskbars, does the CPU usage drop again?

Ok, and it drops immediately after disabling it, or do you need to disable it and then restart DF?

It takes a few minutes, no need for a restart though

Ok, would you be able to send a full debug log? Here are the steps:
  • On the Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "L1: Log Minimal"
  • Restart DisplayFusion
  • Reproduce the high CPU usage and note the time so we'll know where to check in the log file
  • Send us the DisplayFusion.log and DebugInfo.html files (can be found by clicking the Open Log button on the Troubleshooting tab)
  • Disable debug logging after sending the log

Thanks!

This sounds very similar to the problem I'm having.

Thanks! It looks like it's just rapidly trying to start the hooks for some reason. Could you try updating to 7.2 Beta 3, and then send a new debug log if the CPU usage is still high in that build?

Thanks, from the log, it looks like DisplayFusion keeps trying to start the external hooks for some reason. We're investigating this, and I'll keep you posted when we have more news. @Ragepaw: I think this is a different issue than yours, unfortunately :(

Ok, we've just posted 7.2 Beta 4. Could you give it a try, and if you still have this issue, attach a new debug log?

Thanks!

It looks like both the Taskbar thread and the Alt+Tab Handler thread are the ones that are using the majority of the CPU usage. If you disable the Taskbars (Settings > Taskbar > uncheck Enable multi-monitor taskbar) completely, as well as the Alt+Tab Handler (Settings > Window Management > set the Alt+Tab drop-down to Disabled), does that make a difference?

Well Disabling those does help. both cpu usage and ram is low. I uploaded the logs just in case you need them. (time is 18:00)

Ok, and if you just re-enable one of them, does the CPU usage go back up? Or does it only go up if both are enabled?

if I enable the Alt-Tab thing it will not go up. enabling only the Taskbar will make the CPU go up.

Ok, thanks! If you enable only the taskbar, but disable the system tray on it (right-click > Multi-Monitor Taskbar > System Tray > Disabled), does that make any difference?

Also, does it make a difference as to whether or not there are any programs running on that monitor?

Disabling the system tray does nothing. If i dont have any windows on that monitor the cpu goes up to 6% while before it went to 10-15% but the memory usage is still high and display fusion runs slowly.

I had another customer that was running TeamViewer say that DisplayFusion was leaking memory while TeamViewer was running. I noticed in your Troubleshooting info that you're also running TeamViewer. Would you be able to try exiting TeamViewer, and then restarting DisplayFusion to see if that makes any difference on the CPU/memory usage?

Turning team viewer off has no effect. The Cpu and memory usage is high

Ok, would you be able to disable all other programs from starting up with Windows, then reboot and launch only DisplayFusion to see if it still has issues with the CPU/memory usage?
