I'm no computer wizard by any means, but I consider myself handy enough.

I've been encountering issues with DisplayFusion 7.2 on my desktop at work. I've seen a thread or two from back when it was in version 3.0 ish discussing similar issues but haven't found a solution.

Problem:

Large amounts of CPU usage
Laggy second taskbar (will maximize a window I click sometimes 10s of seconds later, or show tiles of a program I have already closed for equivalent timescales)

Any help would be appreciated.

I have tha paid version, and I'm on Windows 8.1

Thanks

Could you attach a copy of your troubleshooting info?
  • Open the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Click the "Open Log" button
  • Reply to this topic with the "DebugInfo.html" file from that folder attached

Thanks!

Thanks! Can you navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\DisplayFusion, right-click DisplayFusion.exe, and check if any options are enabled on the Compatibility tab? If they are, can you try disabling them, then restart DisplayFusion and see if you still run into these issues?

all my settings are like you listed above. If I restart the program or my computer it works fine for a while, but after a little while (same day, or a few days) it begins to lag and become somewhat unresponsive again.

Hi Erik, if you exit DisplayFusion and run for a few days do you experience the same slowdowns? Thanks!

I guess I'm not clear on what you're asking.

If I exit DisplayFusion and continue working it is fine.

If I restart DisplayFusion after closing it it works well for a little while before lagging up again and using 20%+ of my CPU ability.

For some reason, Windows is loading the application compatibility DLL into DisplayFusion. When you start DisplayFusion, are you right-clicking it and choosing "Run as administrator?"

Yes. I've tried running as admin and still encounter the same lag increase over time. Currently DisplayFusion is pulling 27-30% of my CPU. and I have an i5-4690k processer so this doesn't seem normal to me.
Thanks

I was actually wondering if this issue showed up when not running as admin. So it happens either way? Running normally, or admin? I'm just trying to figure out why Windows is loading the compatibility DLL into DisplayFusion when no compatibility settings are enabled.

Could you try installing DisplayFusion to a different folder, and then send me a new copy of the troubleshooting info?

Hey Keith,

Sorry I've gone MIA. The priority of fixing this sort of fell to the side for a while.

Aside from the second taskbar lagging, I've now noticed that the program itself is hung up on something. I clicked "load next wallpaper and I'm still waiting for it to rotate. I've actually made it through this whole message and it hasn't rolled over.

Do you still want me to try re-installing in a different folder?

Best,
Erik

No worries, and that would be great! If you could install to a different folder and then send me a new copy of the troubleshooting info, I'll check it out :)

Thanks!

Hey,

I've installed it in a new folder, a few days ago actually, and haven't had any hangups yet. This may have fixed the issue. I'll report back if a problem emerges.

Thanks!
Erik
