Start8 menu on all windows?

I am using Start8 with displayfusion on a multi-monitor PC. Before installing displayfusion, I had taskbars on each monitor, with the Start button on each set to show the Start8 menu. After disabling the windows multi-monitor taskbars and enabling displayfusion's, the Start 8 menu only shows up when I use the start button on the main display, and the start button on the other displays now launch the windows8 start screen on the main display.

The behavior I am trying to emulate is:
Taskbar on each display that shows only the windows on the display
Start button on each display shows the start8 menu on that same display
Ctrl-click start button on each display opens windows 8 start screen on that same display

What is the best combination of settings for start8 and displayfusion that can achieve this?

Interesting! Pretty basic two monitor setup. I've just tested Start8 with the same setup and it seems to work fine for me. Which version of Start8 are you guys running?

Currently I have displayfusion multi-monitor taskbars enabled and the windows ones disabled, and the start8 menu only shows up for the start button on the main display.

If I use the windows multi-taskbars and disable displayfusions, the start buttons work as I want, but I do not get the system tray on each screen and cannot pin applications to any taskbar but the main one.

It's Start8 version 1.31; everything was just downloaded for a new installation.

Ok, just confirmed that I'm testing in Win 8.1, DisplayFusion 6.0 B2, and Start8 1.31, so I'm a bit stumped here. Could you guys do the following?
  • Enable debug logging on the Troubleshooting tab (set it to Logging: All Lines) and click Apply
  • Restart DisplayFusion
  • Try opening the Start menu on the second monitor a few times (please note the time so I'll know where to look in the log file)
  • Attach the %appdata%\DisplayFusion\DisplayFusion.log file to this topic (can be found by clicking the 'Open Log' button on the Troubleshooting tab)
  • Disable debug logging after sending me the log

Could you backup your Start8 settings and attach them so that I can import them here?

They're located in the following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Stardock\Start8

Here's my log and my start8 settings. In the log, I first clicked the button at 10:57:50.

I have the Windows key set to show the windows 8 menu, and the start button set to show the Start8 menu.

Edit: Sure enough, changing that setting for the windows key to show the Start8 menu does make the Start8 menu display with the start buttons on all monitors.

The problem is, that's not how I want it to behave; I want the windows key to open the windows 8 menu, and the start buttons (all of them) to show the Start8 menu. Is that not possible?

So...the start buttons on the additional monitors gets reported as a windows key press, rather than as a start button? Is there a way of fixing that?

There sure is! In the Settings > Advanced Settings window, just enable the "Invoke Start Menu Using Click Instead of Windows Key" option in the Taskbar section. By default we send a simulated Windows key press, as there are a bunch of third-party Start menu apps that don't like the simulated click for some reason.
