I saw that display fuision is also avaiable on steam now. there is also a second multi monitor software called "Actual Multiple Monitors". I really like display fusion and i don't see the need to buy this other software, but there is one feature that looks really nice. maybe it can be added to display fusion. it is called:

Quote:
Play on One Monitor, Surf on Another
While you are playing full-screen on one monitor, usually you can't do anything on others: best-case scenario is that the game pauses while you're trying to activate a new window on another screen. Worse case scenario: the game auto-hides.

Actual Multiple Monitors has a feature that forces the game to ignore its deactivation and remain active and operative while you are working with other windows. Thus, you can chat with your friends, surf the web for game hints/solutions, and learn game tactics on a spare monitor, without interrupting gameplay.

I wonder if this could be made possible with DF, playing a fullscreen game while surfing on second monitor without leaving the game...

Lucky for you, it's already a feature!
In Functions -> Window Management, bind "Prevent Window Deactivation" to a key.
When active, fullscreen applications won't minimize when they lose focus.

Sounds like you need to sell that feature on your Steam description :)

Does this feature work in the 30-day trial version?

On one monitor is a game (Arma3) on the other firefox browser. I cannot get it to work, I have assigned a key for it, when I press the key I hear a noise (which I assume is the cue to confirm it activated) when I move mouse to my monitor displaying the web browser and click inside it the other monitor running Arma3 minimizes just what this feature is suppose to prevent. Either I am doing something wrong or its not working at all in the trial version or some games don't work with it?

How can you tell if its active? is there suppose to be a green bubble icon in the functions list to indicate it has been?

This is one chief feature that I am looking for and would expect it to work in the trial version so I know it can work with variety of games.

Wondering same thing as last poster. Attempting to play DayZ [SA] with DF, but game still wants to minimize even with "Prevent Window Deactivation" enabled.

Is this feature just not present in the trial? If I could get this to work properly, would buy in a heartbeat.

Our Prevent Window Deactivation Function currently doesn't work with some games, as they seem to ignore the hooks. We're going to be investigating this further, and will post an update as soon as we have a solution :)

Thanks!

Okay thanks. If there is a break through please post in this thread. Perhaps you could create a sticky post a thread asking members to list games it does work for as well and games it doesn't work for at the moment. Perhaps knowing which games don't work can help you finding out perhaps a common reason and finding a work around. However I do understand if it means each game has to have its own work around then this might not be feasible to invest time in doing that, unless its a very popular game or there is a demand for display fusion to work with it. Also a question just to throw in there, I wonder if the STEAM client/Steam games can interfere with this 'hook' process? My Arma3 I tried it with is a Steam game.

But I will say this feature of being able to run a game and use the other monitor for surfing the net or whatever is one of the top things I am looking for in software like this. I play games often.

Regarding Dayz, or Arma3, you can stop them from minimizing when you alt+tab out by running them in windowed mode. just go into the shortcut (or steam launch options) and add the phrase '-window' to the game
you can resize that window as you see fit, and it won't minimize when you switch to something else. it won't be animated anymore, but it won't go away either

@Daza: We have a decent list of games that don't work at the moment, so we'll work on getting them working first, and it will likely fix most games up at the same time :)

@kill3st: Thanks for posting that tip as well :)

DOES ANYONE have this working for windowed DAYZ ? I had purchased hoping that I could leave my character walking in the DAYZ window while work in another window (note I have 5 displays and run programs in windows with borders as much as possible). I tried some of what I read on this page and when I tab away yes my character is still walking but as soon as I use the mouse to click anywhere else the game DAYZ window stops like an escape, meaning if a zombie is around when go back to that window I will be dead...

A possible complication but unlikey is AutoHotKey.
