Precise monitor positioning

i have 4 monitors and i want them in very precise positions pixel perfect

in monitor configuration i cannot do this since moving the mouse 1 pixel moves the display about 30 pixels so i cannot get my desired position

is there a way to input the custom position for a monitor?

in this example i want my display to be at exactly 200 x -1440 - 3640 x 0

just right clicking the desired monitor and inputting the position manually would do.

Window location new location

whenever i update my league of legends client/patcher the file location changes according to the version updated to. could it be possible to fix this so that when LoL updates so does the address?

Monitor profiles

it seems my monitor profiles is a little buggy.

whenever i save a monitor profile and then load it later, 2 of my monitors will be switched with eachother.
those are my DELL U3014 and DELL U27HM, they are both different dimensions and different connectors to my graphics card so im not sure what the problem is

Always on bottom?

is it possible through displayfusion to keep certain windows always at the bottom? similiar to how many applications have the option "always on top".
this would mean essentially that only the desktop would be behind the specified application

even better would be if you could have them ordered sort of how you do in photoshop with layers.

example:
desktop position is 0
irc window would be 1
firefox window would be 2
teamspeak window would be 3

everything else would be above 3 thus 1,2,3 would all be at the bottom

Window profiles(?)

Whenever my monitors go to sleep and wake up my desktop icons, taskbar, and windows will re-arrange themselves (this has something to do with how displayport monitors lose connection when in power saving mode, nothing i've found so far can fix this).

i was wondering if theres a way to create a profile which will take my taskbar, windows, and desktop icons and move them to their positions where i created the profile. Then i could just hit a hotkey, lets say CTRL + SHIFT + I which would move everything to its rightful position.

#1: This is on our list, so I've added your vote to it :)

#2: If you just put *Lol*.exe in the Application field, it will match those executables, no matter what path they're in.

#3: Could you attach a copy of the info from the Settings > Troubleshooting tab, as well as a backup of your settings (Settings > Options > Export) so I can compare your monitor config vs what's saved in the profile?

#4: This could be done with a scripted function, but would require constant polling and eat up a lot of CPU, so it's not really feasible as a feature in DF.

#5: You can do this for the desktop icons and window positions, but unfortunately not for the taskbars. For the desktop icons, see the instructions below. For the window positions, just assign key combinations to the "Save Window Positions," and "Restore Window Positions" functions on the Settings > Functions tab. Use the Save hotkey when everything is setup, and the Restore hotkey after resuming from sleep.

Auto-loading a Desktop Icon Profile:
  • Setup your icons the way you want them
  • Right-click the DisplayFusion tray icon, navigate to Desktop Icons > Save Profile > New Profile and save the layout
  • Open the DisplayFusion Monitor Configuration
  • Click the Save button and save your monitor layout as a new Monitor Profile
  • Click the Manage Monitor Profiles button, and in that window, assign your Desktop Icon Profile to the Monitor Profile

Hope that helps!

it seems like save and load window positions don't work on all windows.

I should specify i have 3 waterfox windows with various tabs open where only one of them saves its position.

these 3 waterfox windows are also a problem when i start it
when i start waterfox from my taskbar it opens my previous session which is 3 windows
these 3 windows dont always open in their correct spot, is there a way to change the location of these 3 windows individually like i can do for all applications in the "window location" options?

foobar2000 doesnt save its position either

is there no way to do this with the taskbar?

Thanks for the help =)

"Always on top" is just a flag you can set on a window, and then Windows knows to keep it at the front. Unfortunately there's no "Always on bottom" flag, so you have to do some complicated z-order stuff to try and send a window to the back, and then you'd have to be constantly polling to make sure it's still at the back :(

We'll test out Waterfox and foobar with the Save/Restore Window Positions and see what we can find out :)

Just a quick update. We've tested out the Save/Restore Window Positions functions with Waterfox and foobar, and they seem to mostly work for us. The positions are correct, but their z-order is not. Is that the same behaviour you're seeing?

They don't react AT ALL.

i put them in a certain position. hotkey - window positions saved successfully message.
Move the windows around. hotkey - all windows move to their correct position EXCEPT for waterfox window 2&3 and foobar (now i notice that even µtorrent 2.2.1 exhibit the same behavior) who do not react at all.

and as i said, i have 3 separate waterfox WINDOWS whereof ONLY ONE of them will save its position, the other two will not move at all. So it does work on waterfox, but it does not work with several waterfox windows.

if it helps this is how my monitors are setup

Does it make any difference if they're maximized or not?

YES that seems to be the problem.

If the window positions are saved in a maximized state they will not return to that position when trying to restore their positions.

if they are not maximized they work as intended

Ok, have you tried the latest 7.2 Beta? I believe we've actually fixed that issue in one of the recent betas. You can grab it at the link below, or just enable the beta update checks on the Settings > Options tab.
