I'm quite sure this started happening after I disabled hibernation (removed hiberfil.sys) in Windows 8 Pro 64-bit. Now, when I populate a directory on a drive separate from my boot drive with wallpaper images, the entire directory is gone upon reboot. I did a little research and it seems the problem could be with the files being stored in a temp directory and removed on reboot, though, as mentioned, I keep the files in their own directory.

I'd be happy to provide any further info that might help stop this behavior, just let me know.

Thanks for taking a look!

The files themselves are being removed? Or just the reference to the folder in the DisplayFusion Wallpaper Configuration?

The directory and all of the files within are being removed (deleted as far as I can tell).

That's strange! DisplayFusion wouldn't be deleting the directory. The only one that it removes files from is it's own temporary image directory located in Pictures\DisplayFusion\Web Images.

I can try testing this issue out here in Windows 8 to see if I can reproduce it though. Could you let me know the full path to the folder that you created, including the drive letter?

Thanks!

Sure, here is the path: B:\desktop_wallpaper

I'm not sure whether it's Windows, DisplayFusion or some combination of the two that is causing the directory to be deleted but hopefully we can come up with something. Let me know if there's anything else I can provide.

Interesting. B: was an old drive letter reserved for floppy disks. I can't even select it as a drive letter in Windows 8, how did you get your partition to use B: for the drive letter?

I believe I simply assigned that letter in disk management when I installed the drive.

Ok, I got it to change to B: here, but even after disabling hibernation and rebooting, the folder still exists. If you disable DisplayFusion from starting up (Settings > Options tab), then reboot, does the folder still get deleted?

It seems to be occurring intermittently now as opposed to every restart. The next time I notice the folder is deleted (to be sure it's actually still happening) I'll try disabling DispalyFusion on startup, see what happens and report back. Thanks!
