Thank you. So I tried ending the process "StartMenuExperienceHost.exe" and it made no difference. I tried several times.
I also played around shuffling through profiles but once the glitch occurs it only fixes itself by a restart or a user logout.

If you have anything else you would like me to try out I'd be happy to, but otherwise thank you for the assistance and attempts to troubleshoot the problem. At least I've discovered a practical work around in switching back to single monitor 1 profile prior to switching to 2 to avoid the issue.

Thank you. So I haven't tried that yet but I'll be happy to try it if that may help resolve the issue via a fix someday. At the moment however I've found another solution around it:

- Going through the monitor 1 (1920x1080) only profile before switching to the monitor 2 (1600x1200) only profile. Prior to this when I wanted to switch to the 2nd monitor only profile I was switching from a profile that had both active (1+2) to the single monitor 2 (1600x1200) profile.

So in simpler words I go from the 2 monitor profile, to the single monitor 1, then to monitor 2.

All in all it's just a single keyboard shortcut longer to do but this avoids the issue.

Hello Owen,

Thank you for the reply.

I followed your instructions and here is my log. The issue occured at 10:52pm.

All I did after enabling the log is to turn on my second monitor, switch profile to that monitor, and click on the start tab. The start tab opened on the right instead of the left where it usually pops up from. After that I exported the log and disabled it.

My start tab is probably at the default size and does not have many more tabs than what it had at its default. Running Windows 10 pro with the latest build installed.

Thank you.

Have had this issue for years and never really bothered reporting it, instead hoping it would get fixed one of these days. Since the issue persists in the latest version I figured maybe it's time I bring it to the team.

The issue is that after switching to a profile that enable or disable a screen, the start menu ends up opening out of aligmenent towards the center right part of the screen instead of on the extreme left where it normally opens out from.

Restoring the former profile (or changing to any other profile for that matter) doesn't fix the issue. The only fix I've found is to restart the computer.

Hoping this can get fixed someday because it really does end up feeling like an annoying issue.

For more info here is my setup:

Monitor 1: 1920x1080
Monitor 2: 1600x1200

Typically I use one at a time, and just switch to the other depending on my needs, and sometimes enable both for work that requires both.

EDIT: My bad, looks like in 2020 I did bring this up:
https://www.displayfusion.com/Discussions/View/changing-display-profiles-sometimes-glitches-the-start-menu/?ID=22192649-84f9-4f19-9760-1e7726c3c249

Sadly the issue persists.

Thank you.

Best regards.
