thanks for the pointer, Owen. I was thinking a custom function was the way I'd have to go but the fiddling I did wasn't successful so I came here and asked. I'll follow the guide and see if I do better this time!

I've got a 24" FHD monitor as a secondary display and have it split 50/50 into two, but that makes each window size / resolution hard to use for some of my software / tasks, so I'm always manually dragging and making some bigger and overlap into the space the split screen takes.  <br/>

I do a lot of copy / paste so I'm wondering if I can set it up 2.1 and 2.2 maximize to 70% of the 24" display when it's my active window. because I am adjusting and doing this manually, I already know the remaining 30% for the other virtual* display is big enough to let me do what I need to do.<br/>

* when you break one display into multiple displays, what do you refer to them as? virtual or as an actual monitor or something else?
