I get your reasoning, but on the other hand MediaMonkey playing audio isn't causing other processes besides DF to spike, and as I mentioned it looks like audio streams initiated by other applications also cause the DF spike.  There might be some complex interaction at play on my system, which is an 18-yo install upgraded through several versions of Windows and several hardware generations, and has a lot of things installed on it.  I'll see if it's any better after I upgrade my system to a 2024 cpu from a 2018 cpu, and lots of other newer hardware, which I hope to get done soon.  Overall though, apps behave well on my system, just somewhat slow because of the hardware age.<br/>

If there's no resolution, I'll have to get myself off of DF, which will fix the problem.

With MM 2024, the spike happens whether or not the MM window is on the primary monitor (no DF toolbar) or on the secondary monitor from where it was launched (via DF toolbar there).  Windows 11.  All software concerned is on latest version.
