This sounds sort of like the issue I discuss here (though I don't think it's the same problem exactly): https://www.displayfusion.com/Discussions/View/clicking-start-menu-switches-monitors-when-using-monitor-fading/?ID=01940087-1f5c-751e-890e-29a52d58ec79

I just found a workaround that might be worth trying in your case too. You need Stardock's Start11 for it though. If you don't have it, there is a free trial to test it out at least. After installing, go to Start11 Configuration, make sure Start11 Start Menu is On, then go to Control, then set "Open the Start11 menu on the screen the mouse pointer is on" to "On".

Then see if your problem is solved at least when the mouse pointer is on the screen you want to open the start menu from. You might need to play around with the different Start Menu styles in Start11 because they don't all behave exactly the same way with monitor fading on.

I have a 2 monitor setup with Monitor Fading enabled. I have the mode set to "fade non-current monitors" along with my 1st(primary) monitor excluded. everytime I click the windows start menu button on the 2nd monitor it displays the menu on the 2nd but dims the screen as if the 1st monitor is in use. it's not a huge issue but it is annoying. is there a way to stop the screen from dimming when i open the start menu on my 2nd monitor?
Edit: I read the Known issues article and saw that this might be an unfixable issue. my b
