John,

I finally got a chance to check out iRotate. Its a cool utility but not exactly the solution to the problem (really appreciate the help though).

This is my setup - where M1 is my laptop screen and M2 is my 2nd monitor.

M2

M1

And everytime the video setting is reset it reverts to landscape i.e.:
M1 M2

I can configure landscape mode either way and it will stick.
M1 M2 or M2 M1
but I have not been able to get my vertical configuration to stick so I constantly have to go into Display Settings and manually reset the relative positioning of the monitors.
After trying various layouts I finally settled on the vertical monitor layout and except for the reset issue I am very happy with it.

...Steven

In the meantime, you might want to try iRotate (freeware). It should fix your problem. I used to use it with an older card that wouldn't support the vertical screen resolution I wanted to use, and it worked perfectly.

Quote:
iRotate provides convenient access to the native rotation capabilities present in contemporary display drivers, via a popup menu accessible from the system tray and optional system-wide hotkeys. It's no longer necessary to resort to bloated Windows hacks, additional software layers or phantom drivers to achieve content rotation. In most instances, support is now available directly from the graphics chip manufacturers, who continuously improve and apply quality assurance to their drivers.

By leveraging the native rotation capabilities now provided by ATI, nVidia, Intel, Matrox, S3, XGI and others, iRotate offers exceptional speed and efficiency, with minimal impact on scarce system resources - the entire iRotate package, including installation, documentation, and native language support in all the major European and Asian languages, weighs in at only 125kb. And like all EnTech graphics utilities, iRotate supports multiple graphics cards from various vendors, simultaneously, under every multi-monitor enabled operating system from Windows 98 to Vista.

IRotate (it's free) from http://www.entechtaiwan.net/util/irotate.shtm

Support forums: http://www.entechtaiwan.net/forums/

iRotate is free for personal use only. Registration is not required.

Every time my laptop's screen saver kicks, it gets rebooted, wakes from hibernation, etc. - the display properties regarding the location and orientation of my laptop screen and external monitor get reset.

DisplayFusion is not the cause of this problem but it would been really nice if it could help fix it.
(I am a registered owner/user of DisplayFusion)
This issue is a major pain - if answer the phone, go to the head, etc. I have to alter my display properties.

I am using Vista 32 Ultimate with an HP dv9500 Pavilion laptop. This laptop has an NVidia chipset and won't store a vertical monitor config (or at least I haven't been able to; horizontal monitor 2 on right or on left no problem)- so it resets it back to horizontal when the video gets reset (such as when the screen saver is turned off, etc.).

UltraMon's has approach that is somewhat helpful - it allows you to save different display configurations which you can then set a hot key combo to activate. At least something minimal as this approach would be very helpful.

Thanks
