I believe you're right though. While those shortcut keys aren't new (they were in Windows 7), it is new that they work on Metro apps in Windows 8.1, as they didn't work on Metro apps in Windows 8 :)

Actually, it is new Keith because it used to be "Win+UP" or "Win+DN" in order to move the Metro Apps on Windows 8, it only changed on 8.1 which I was not aware of. I never used any of these shortcuts on Windows 7 because I did not have Metro Apps back then, lol... Oh, and good news, not sure why but the Start screen and Metro apps are now remembering their last location. I had my machine off when I went to the Post Office today and when I came back to watch some Merlin on Netflix, I decided to fire up the Start screen first and to my amazement it launched onto the TV. Then I clicked on the Netflix tile and sure enough, it launched onto the TV as well.

Very interesting indeed... Thanks Keith, you've been a great help. I am surprised you are so willing to help users with software they have not paid for yet. I highly appreciate it.

Good idea. I will give this a try because it actually makes sense. However, yesterday combing through some certified Microsoft forums I discovered that Windows 8.1 has a new keyboard shortcut "Shift+Win+Left Arrow" or "Shift+Win+Right Arrow" in order to quickly move the Start screen and thus metro apps. This remembers its location so long you do not restart the computer. However, I restart quite frequently, at least once a day or so. So, its hardly a permanent solution.

Yes, if the users of the world would ask Netflix and even Hulu+ (the only current ones I subscribe to) to join Plex life would become so very easy, lol... In fact, I wish Plex had all the channels that Roku has, or even half of them. 500+ channels on Plex (including Netflix and Hulu+) and I would gladly pay $80 a year to be a PlexPass member, lol.... Absolutely, and not only that I would completely forget about all these smart devices, and just build myself the end all of HTPC boxes, lol. I have my main computer now working as a HTPC, but its not dedicated to that function as I also run a business off of it... In the summer I give it a break and go back to media players.

P.S. If Aereo ever comes to Plex, OMG. Could you imagine what power that would give the Plex guys? XBMC what? You could try the following:
  • Set the TV as the Primary monitor
  • Move the Windows taskbar to the other monitor (right-click, disable Lock the Taskbar, then click and drag it to the other monitor)
  • Create a Window Location rule to move all windows to the current monitor (see attached)

I'm not 100% sure if that will work, but it's worth a try :)

Ok, then the questions begs to be asked, can I make the TV the primary? but keep EVERYTHING on the Dell like it is now (which is currently Primary) And nothing what so ever on secondary TV, except for the Metro Apps. And 100% of my programs, task bar, start menu, everything to stay on the Dell even though I would make the dell the secondary monitor?

This way the stupid Metro apps can launch onto the Primary monitor like they want to, which would be the TV. I am absolutely dumbfounded at how bad Windows has become. After 20 years of Windows use, when 7 came along I thought to myself FINALLY got it right, and now this major disaster happens.

I guess I should go and just non stop complain to Netflix to try and get an official Netflix channel on the Plex Home Theater. That would solve everything. Sorry for my off-topic rant about Windows.

Please let me know if DF can do the above and I will give it a try. Thank you Keith for the quick reply.

Looking for a solution to specifically launch Netflix (or any Metro Video App) onto the secondary monitor, similar to how Plex Home Theater does automatically. My hardware setup is below.

Windows 8.1 64bit plus latest AMD WHQL drivers
Intel i7
12gb RAM
Radeon HD 5800 GTX
Dell 2407WFP (Primary) via Dual-Link DVI
Sony 55" 1080p TV (Secondary) via HDMI

I am beginning to hate Windows 8.1 because it does not allow one to launch Video Apps onto the monitor of choice (among many other reasons). I have to use a mouse, grab the top of the App, drag it down so it will minimize itself into a small box, then drag that tiny window over to the appropriate screen and drop it. It then full screens itself and works fine. Something that should have been default for video apps or at least a simple setting within the metro apps settings.

So, what I would like DF to do is have the Netflix App automatically launch onto the 55" Sony TV, bypassing any need to drag the stupid app to another screen. The icon (or launcher) for the Netflix app is located in the main menu of "Classic Shell" and is already located on both monitors where the normal start button is located. Yes, I have this setup just like windows 7 and I never use Metro if I can avoid it. So, all I really need this to do, in order for me to consider purchasing it, is for it to launch full screen Metro apps of my choosing onto the TV where it belongs.

Can I do this? Or are Metro Apps doomed to always run on the Primary screen by default? Thank you very much for any help you can provide me.
