I listed those other services not as wallpaper changers, but as services that I did not recognize.

As for finding the place where they are located, well, my guess would be somewhere wherever your themes are stored. Try making a new theme, or jsut saving the one you have now, and then seeing where it tries to default saving the theme too - that would be a good place to start.

I thought of windowblinds also. The wallpaper changer is already disabled. I looked into the other services you highlighted. I can't see how they can be changing the wallpaper. The only other solution that I can think of is probably stupid. Since the unknown wallpaper changer is only changing the Windows Vista wallpaper; What would happen if I just deleted the folder that holds these wallpapers, or just moved the folder to another location? How do I locate the folder ?

OK, taking a good, deep look at the services shows me one thing quickly: You've got a lot of stuff running!

I don't see any service that is causing your wallpaper to cycle like it is, but I do see several things that make me wonder:

My apologies- I did, but I got caught up in the pre-spring break / midterm examinations flurry going on - tomorrow is the last day of classes and then Spring Break begins - would you mind replying to this tomorrow so to help remind me to take a look again?

I ad started writing a massive response with some things I saw, but ended up having the computer reboot on me after a Windows Update was installed overnight....

OK, Click the Start button, then in the search bar at the bottom type in the following:

Select All

services.msc

You should get a UAC prompt to allow elevated privileges, provided that you have UAC enabled.

Now, you should have a list of services running that you can scroll through. Warning! The list is very long, and do not start arbitrarily turning things off - you can easily render your system unable to boot.

Now you can go to the Action menu at the top and then select Export List... and it will allow you to export the list to a variety of formats - pick any one of the formats, save the file, and then you can upload it here as an attachment for us to see. If you prefer not having it put in the open, feel free to send me a Private message via this system and I can peruse it for you.

If you wouldn't mind an easier way to look, you can download Winpatrol from http://www.winpatrol.com/download.html - use the Free Download link - and install it - it is a great little program that helps monitor what actually gets added to your windows startup, and 'barks' at you when something new tries to add itself on....

When you run it the first time, it will bark, ask for elevated privileges via UAC (again, provided that you have UAC enabled) and then you'll get a window with many tabs on it - select the Services tab (see below), and then make sure the check mark at the bottom of the window, which states "List non-Microsoft Services only" is checked - that way you can be sure you're only looking at non M$ services - this list should be significantly shorter, and then you can simply take a snapshot of it using the Snipping tool (if your version of Vista has that_ or else by simply clicking anywhere on the WinPatrol window so it is active, holding the Altkey down while pressing the PrtScrn key, and then opening M$ Paint (or your favorite image editor), performing a Paste command (usually, most image editors will paste whatever i in your clipboard by using the Keyboard shortcut [CTRL] + [V] as long as you have a new, blank canvas open) and then you can save that and attach it here for us to look at.

It had been suggested earlier in this forum topic that I should check to see what processes are running. I have looked at them, but I don't see
anything that could be causing my wallpaper to cycle. Mind you I am not sure what I am looking for.

I also looked at the services that are running. Again, I don't see anything from their description that could be creating this issue.

I don't know how to create a new profile !!

Reason I asked about Fences is that others in this forum have reported that fences is causing issues.

Have you tried making a new profile and seeing if DF still continues to lose the WP settings? If so, then you might want to look at what is running on your system as a service....

DF is running, but whatever program is cycling my windows wallpapers, is overriding it.

I can reset DF and add new wallpapers but after a short while this unknown application overrides it and starts again to cycle
the windows wallpapers.

Yes, I am running Fences. I should add that this problem started long before I installed Fences

I appreciate any additional assistance.

When you say DF is shutting down, do you mean the application is no longer running, or do you mean that the application is running but no longer working?

If the latte, do you have Stardock's Fences running?

I also thought it was Webshots. So I uninstalled it.

Same problem continues. I also looked in Task Manager, but to be honest I don't know what I should be looking for.

If you, or someone else could give me an idea of what to look for, great !!

Your best bet would be to look in Task Manager to see what background processes are running. Maybe something like WebShots is running in the background, but I'm sure there are dozens of other programs that do wallpaper switching that might be running.

I'm hoping someone can help me with a displayfusion type issue. Display fusion keeps shutting down. It seems another program (!!!!), I do not know what, is cycling my windows wallpapers ever hour !!. I have no idea what it is or how to shut it down. Any help would be appreciated
