I have some good news and some bad news. The good news is that I found the problem, the bad news is that I can't fix it. Windows Vista (and Windows 7) have a new security system that prevents a lower-privilege user's applications from interacting with elevated applications. The only way around this is to run DisplayFusion as an elevated process, but that will generate a UAC prompt each time DisplayFusion is started. I'm sorry that I don't have a better solution, but that is the way Windows security works.

I have a little more info. I downloaded beta 10 and installed it following these steps.

1. Added my user name as a local admin
2. Logged on as my local admin account - which is the one I normally use
3. Installed DF

The process integrity level was high until I removed my account from the local administrators group. Now the process integrity level is back to medium. If I add my account to the local admins group the process integrity level goes back to high but as soon as I remove my account it reverts to medium.

I need DF to run at high for non-admin user accounts.

I spoke too soon. I decided to rebuild my computer from scratch hoping to solve an unrelated issue. I have installed and uninstalled DisplayFusion numerous times and the process integrity level has either been "Unknown" or "Medium". I installed while logged in as a local admin. I installed while logged in as a general user and providing admin credentials when prompted. No combination has given me the desired result.

What is the correct way to install DF? Should I install it while logged in with be general account or my admin account? Should I right-click the installation executable and select run as administrator? Should I double-click the installation executable and provide admin credentials when prompted?

You shouldn't need to run DisplayFusion as an Administrator, it is working fine for me on my Win7 x64 machine. Can you post the information from the Troubleshooting tab in DisplayFusion? There are a few things that can cause DF to ignore administrator applications:
- DisplayFusion MUST be installed into the "protected" area, like the "Program Files (x86)" folder
- DisplayFusion must be digitally signed and unmodified (pirated versions won't work)

Once you post the info from the Troubleshooting tab I can see what is causing the behaviour to not work. Thanks!
To answer your question about "just use an admin account" we try to follow best practices and only use admin accounts when administrator rights are required. This means we log in to our workstations as normal users. When we need to perform an administrative task we either launch the application on our workstations using "Run as administrator" or we remote into a server using our admin accounts. I know several companies that use this practice.

I am using DisplayFusion 3.1.8.107 on Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit. Many of my job functions require me to launch applications using "Run as administrator". The hot key to move window to next monitor is not working as expected for windows lauched using "Run as administrator". If the window is maximized when the title bar button is clicked, the window is restored. If the window is not maximized, nothing happens. The same behavior occurs with the Span window across all monitors title bar button.

The hot key and title bar buttons work fine for windows launched normally. It only impacts windows launched using "Run as administrator". This is a big deal for me since I launch so many windows using "Run as administrator". This was not an issue in 3.1.7. I am not sure which beta version introduced this problem. My guess is that it has to do with the new window detection.
