The checkbox on that tab is "Enable Monitor Fading". To me, that means "Enable this new feature, systemwide". But what that checkbox does is "Perform the 'Monitor Fading' feature, right now."

It is not obvious that the way to stop Alt-Ctrl-F from toggling Monitor Fading is not on that tab at all, but is on the "Functions" tab. The Functions tab should probably be renamed to "Hotkeys". Finally, on the Functions tab, in the popup dialog that allows you to change the key assignment for any function, it is not obvious at all that the little "X" button unbinds the key assignment.

I just upgraded to the new version of DisplayFusion as well and wanted to add my thoughts, specifically on this new feature.

CTRL+ALT+F is also the keyboard combination to search for notes in Evernote, this caused me to unknowingly activate this feature.

I didn't know what caused this dimming feature. After some Googling I stumbled upon the Adaptive Brightness function of Windows 8/10. After thinking further, I realized I had just updated DisplayFusion before so I figured it out.

After disabling the feature, it got activated again with the keyboard shortcut. Realizing this I went to look for the relevant option to disable that combo. I found it in the list, and pressed Remove. This won't work for default features, because apparently remove doesn't mean remove the keyboard shortcut. This wasn't clear to me, so perhaps the design of this menu should be made more intuitive? Since that didn't work, I disabled keyboard shortcuts altogether. Finally, I stumbled upon this post and figured out the correct procedure to remove the keyboard shortcut.

I'm just posting this as some feedback, feel free to do with it whatever you like. I just worry other users might not figure this out as I did, which might lead to frustration. Anyway, thanks for your work in the program!

Upgraded to 9.0 this morning. Unwittingly hit Alt-Ctrl-F in another app. Finally figured out what was going on. Went into DF settings, aha! new "Monitor Fading" tab. But look: the option is not enabled. Checking/unchecking the box has no effect; Alt-Ctrl-F always fades/unfades the other monitor. Platform: Windows 10 (64bit), Intel HD Graphics 530, two monitors, HP Z240 desktop.
