I had not realized that "Fix my wallpaper for me" was just the feature I sought in (1) of my original post.

Indeed, the Icon Text Shadow reappears after DisplayFusion has 'fixed' the wallpaper on the new rotated monitor (2). However, the underlying setting in Windows Performance Options Visual Effects (near the bottom) "Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop" is not changed. Therefore a Log Off or Restart restores the preferred settings without revisiting Windows Performance Options.

The only 'visual styling' running on my system is 7's own: Personalization Desktop Background My Themes.

In any event, the situation is more manageable now and I am grateful for your guidance.

Just enable the "Fix my wallpaper for me" setting in the Settings window, on the Wallpaper tab. As for the visual settings issue, DisplayFusion is using the documented wallpaper APIs in Windows 7, so I'm not sure how it could be affecting that. Until recently I never needed to change the rotation of my secondary monitor. Turns out that PowerDVD 9 in its most recent build and all builds of PowerDVD 10 are incompatible with any monitor in a Windows system set to portrait mode. CyberLink appears unwilling to fix this bug.

Thus I have been experimenting with rotating the secondary monitor in my system and find two DisplayFusion limitations. Possibly these can be overcome in a future release:

1) Rotation of the secondary monitor requires resetting the corresponding Wallpaper. DisplayFusion always gets this right, but it would be nice if DisplayFusion automatically made the adjustment when changing landscape/portrait modes, as do some Desktop icon position caching apps, such as IconRestorer.

2) Rather more of a nuisance, when DisplayFusion re-applies a Wallpaper selection, it appears to reset the Desktop Icon Shadow setting in Windows Performance Options Visual Effects (near the bottom) "Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop" to the default [On]. Unchecking this item then requires a log-off to eliminate the shadows.

Lovely it would be were DisplayFusion to makes its changes without affecting this particular item.

Apart from these observations I find DisplayFusion a godsend application and its ongoing development superbly responsive to user's experience and needs.
