The problem is that Windows has never included a standard API to enumerate the taskbar items. In Windows XP and Windows Vista it is somewhat "easy" though, as the taskbar is treated as a standard control. In Windows 7 though, I'm not sure what the heck it is. I think it's just a custom, owner-drawn control, which makes my life a bit more difficult. Once the Windows 7 SDK goes final I'm going to be rummaging through it to see what I can find. The ITaskbarList interfaces have been around for a while now, and unfortunately aren't what I need. Some of the earlier 2.2.x betas used these interfaces to hide and show the taskbar items, but the ITaskbarList interfaces don't perform any type of enumeration. Once it was up and running it didn't take long to sort out the taskbar rendering issues (most of them, anyway). Also, the "only show relevant windows" option is now available for Windows 7 users. It doesn't work 100% yet, but it's a million times better than the method in version 3.0.2. I'm not going to improve the taskbar window detection method anymore for Windows 7 until it goes final, as the API is still in flux.
