I have an idea as to how we might be able to work around this issue, but we need to investigate it further. I've added your info to the ticket, and we'll keep you posted as soon as we make some progress.

Thanks!

Hi Keith,

Thanks for the reply. The order of the monitor numbers has changed. I am connected via remote desktop now. They now read 2,1,3 from left to right instead of 3,1,2 as they read when I was on the computer locally.

Not sure why they have changed numbers. Maybe in a remote session Windows reassigns the center monitor (primary monitor) as 1 and then renumbers the other monitors from left to right in increasing order?

Would it make sense to have display fusion remember taskbar location by monitor position as in left monitor, center monitor, right monitor rather than by numbers when connecting to the PC via multi-monitor remote desktop?

What do you think?

Thanks,
Paul

I believe the monitor numbers usually stay the same between Remote Desktop sessions, but I'm not 100% sure on that. Could you list the monitor IDs for the monitors in the Remote Desktop session anyways?
Thanks!

Hi,

Just wanted to report an issue I noticed the other day. I have a 3 Monitor setup. The monitors are numbered from left to right as 3,1,2 according to the Windows 8 Screen Resolution dialog window.

I like to have my taskbars positioned as follows:

Monitor 3 (left-most monitor) : right side

Monitor 1 (center monitor) : left side
(Main Display according to Windows 8 Screen Resolution Dialog)

Monitor 2 (right-most monitor): left side

Normally everything works great and I have no problems. However, I often work on another computer that also has 3 monitors. I use Windows Remote Desktop to multi-monitor RDP into my main workstation from this second PC. When I do so, the taskbars on the left and right monitors move to opposite sides. So my taskbar positions are now as follows:

Monitor X (left-most monitor) : left side

Monitor Y (center monitor) : left side

Monitor Z (right-most monitor): right side

I left out the monitor #'s in this listing since I'm not sure the monitor #'s stay the same when I RDP into the computer.

Do you have any thoughts on what might be happening and if a work-around exists?

Almost forgot, I am running Windows 8 Pro x64 on both PC's. My Display Fusion version is v5.1.0 (Beta 1).

Thanks,
Paul
