Apologies for the late response I was traveling due to work and unable to access my home computer.

Sadly I may of miss-diagnosed the issue since this seems to of spawned from Windows 10 creator update.

For anyone else who makes the same mistake I have made and finds this post here are the results:

https://helpdeskgeek.com/how-to/disable-taskbar-thumbnail-previews-windows/

Quote:
It’s worth noting that this method doesn’t work with the latest Creator’s update in Windows 10! Microsoft has made it so that you cannot disable the taskbar previews anymore in the newest version of Windows 10.

And in typical Windows fashion either that functionality is broken or they forgot to remove it from the UI within settings.

The biggest reason I wanted these taskbar thumbnails off is due to the performance hit. But alas I must make do. Prior to this issue, the taskbar would stack with a Title only and no thumbnail when I hovered over the icons. Because I am unable to replicate, I cannot attach a screenshot of what I was hoping to achieve.

I appreciate the help regardless. You can close this thread.

Thanks,
Matt

Windows 10 Aero thumbnail displays even with all the settings turned off.
So far I've tried the following:

Turned off Peek in Performance Settings (screen1)

Made sure Peek was turned off in taskbar settings. (screen1)

I even went as far to double check my settings in the registry. (screen2)

I tried enabling and disabling Settings > Taskbar Mode, but still no luck. (screen3)

I narrowed down that Display Fusion is the cause because when I disabled it on start up the Aero Peek turned off.

I can only speculate when this started happening, but I do recall it was shortly after a DF update.

I would appreciate any help on how to resolve this issue.
