Apologies for the late response I was traveling due to work and unable to access my home computer.

Sadly I may of miss-diagnosed the issue since this seems to of spawned from Windows 10 creator update.

For anyone else who makes the same mistake I have made and finds this post here are the results:

And in typical Windows fashion either that functionality is broken or they forgot to remove it from the UI within settings.

The biggest reason I wanted these taskbar thumbnails off is due to the performance hit. But alas I must make do. Prior to this issue, the taskbar would stack with a Title only and no thumbnail when I hovered over the icons. Because I am unable to replicate, I cannot attach a screenshot of what I was hoping to achieve.

So far I've tried the following:

  • Turned off Peek in Performance Settings (screen1)
  • Made sure Peek was turned off in taskbar settings. (screen1)
  • I even went as far to double check my settings in the registry. (screen2)
  • I tried enabling and disabling Settings > Taskbar Mode, but still no luck. (screen3)

I narrowed down that Display Fusion is the cause because when I disabled it on start up the Aero Peek turned off.

I can only speculate when this started happening, but I do recall it was shortly after a DF update.

I would appreciate any help on how to resolve this issue. ]]>
