That is, if the screen saver comes on and I subsequently login, I see that a new backup has been created.

I normally use a script when I'm done using the computer that sends a command to turn the monitors off. Therefore, I don't normally go through the DisplayFusion code that brings up the screensaver. I deleted all the existing backup config files and brought up the settings screen and used it to create a new backup. In the listing below, it's the first one shown with a version number of 7.1.99.105. After that, DisplayFusion appears to be creating two new backups every day without any actions on my part. In some cases, I am not even using the computer when the new backups are created (computer runs 24x7; never turned off, logged out of or rebooted). I am not reinstalling DisplayFusion or bringing up the interface to change any options. Two interesting aspects of the new files: (1) they are all shown as version 7.2.0 rather than 7.1.99.105 and (2) the size of the file changes slightly with each new copy.

Using the Advanced Settings option to disable automatic creation of backups resolves this issue.

This problem started with Beta 5; didn't see this issue with Beta 3. We chose to let it keep the old backups because they're not big in size, and it gives the customer multiple options to roll back to if they have an issue with an update or settings change

You are correct about that Advanced Setting. It will disable those auto-backups during updates. And thanks for letting us know about the text error. That is, an additional copy of the settings are created in the Documents\DisplayFusion Backups directory. I don't know if this is a new feature or a bug but, if a feature, it should remove older copies of the settings when creating newer ones.

Also, I checked the Advanced Settings and saw an option "General / Disable Settings Auto-Backup' and thought it might turn this feature off. Don't know if this will work but noticed that the dialog box that comes up to confirm this change when I hit OK says "Your Advanced Setting was saved successfully. You may need to restart VoiceBot for this setting to take effect" VoiceBot! I think this is definitely an error. ]]>
