I am using Windows 7 with Display Fusion. Perhaps I am misunderstanding what Display Fusion is supposed to do? It was recommended to me, because I complained that my then WinVista laptop's desktop icons were re-configured every time I hooked up an 800x600 projector. I installed Display Fusion and that solved the problem Wonderful!

Now I have upgraded that laptop to Windows7, but in addition to the projector, I am using a second monitor (1024x768 - recommended), and occasionally hook it up via HDMI to my HDTV (some odd widescreen resolution). When I turn on the second monitor (both with ATI software and the power switch), all my desktop icons gather at the left side of the screen in a different order. When I turn the monitor off again, they all return to where I want them. First of all, I don't want the icons to move like that. However, when I hook it up to the TV and then use the laptop normally (with or without the second monitor) the desktop icons are permanently to the left in seemingly random order. Secondly: I don't want my icons to be moved around at all, not ever.

What am I doing wrong? Am I misunderstanding what Display Fusion does? Is there any way to accomplish not having to restore my desktop icon configuarion most of the time when I attache a second device (projector, monitor or TV)? Help me!

David
