I made this switch last week and so far every time it's triggered it's saving the window positions properly. Hopefully this will continue to hold!

I meant to say manually saving the positions is working. Trigger still probably not. So far this has been working. Not sure why the trigger wouldn't always be working though.

Screen saver is set for 5 minutes, display sleep 10 minutes, and the time for the trigger is 540 seconds. That would be a negative. I would say that sounds accurate. If I come back after the displays are asleep only minutes afterwards it seems ok.
