That didn't fix it. I also found directions that pointed to HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Lock Screen\, and I changed it to match the working user, for the non-working user. There was an image E for the non-working user that I removed, which caused the lock/logon screens to have a solid background again, but I still can't log in. There are references to DisplayFusionHelperWin8.exe under that reg key, so I'm still wondering if there's a way to remove all DisplayFusion changes, to rule it out as contributing. Would uninstalling it revert all registry entries, for all users?

I joined the Windows Insider preview program and after pushing a preview build of Windows 10 on me, the logon screen is now different in two ways.

First, they fixed the bug above, where the background on that screen would not change. Actually, the lock and the logon screens now both have the background I configured in DisplayFusion, so that's a bonus.

The other way the logon screen is different is that it doesn't actually let me log in. The screen changes to black like it's thinking about loading my profile and dropping me to my desktop, but then the lock screen (press C-A-D) is presented again. Googling around, I found that it seems to be related to custom background images. I tried logging in as a different user, with no background customization, and was able to log in fine.

Is there a way to disable that setting manually? I don't know what all that option in DisplayFusion actually changes or where. I'd be able to open up the registry and go to my other profile's hive and change whatever, or modify files related to that profile. I have a couple years worth of customization and I'd hate to have to blow away that profile on account of this Windows bug.

Yes, the service has been running.
What's especially odd is this: If I go to Settings > Personalization > Lock screen, the Preview shows the image that I picked in DisplayFusion. When I actually lock my computer though, neither the lock nor logon screen actually reflect that background. This situation persists across reboots.

I'm on 7.3.2 pro, and can't seem to get the logon background to change. I've actually never successfully gotten those settings to do anything, even on Win 7, though I'm on 10 now. I haven't been terribly worried about it, but would like to get it working. I found several other threads but saw no resolution on any of them that helped me. DisplayFusion doesn't seem to be adding any images to c:\windows\system32\oobe\info\backgrounds or c:\windows\web either one. I've tried running it as administrator with no luck. I'm in an Active Directory environment with UAC on default setting, and I'm a domain admin so permissions shouldn't be an issue. Also I'm trying to change the logon / sign-in background, not the lock screen background (though if the other is possible, that would be great too). Let me know if there's something else I can try.
