If Vista then asks you to install the default drivers or starts auto installing them, cancel (Yes, I know this is the ugly 800 X 600 res - only temporary).

Now, see if Vista detects dual monitors - if so, drag into place.
Finally, re-install your drivers, and then reboot.

See if this helps.

If not, then try it again, only in the first step go to http://www.guru3d.com/category/driversweeper/ and get that and install it - read the instructions on how to use it at http://phyxion.net/Products/Products/Driver-Sweeper/How-to-use

Uninstall your drivers from Safe Mode using DS, reboot. If Vista then asks you to install the default drivers or starts auto installing them, cancel (Yes, I know this is the ugly 800 X 600 res - only temporary).

Now, see if Vista detects dual monitors - if so, drag into place.

I cannot remember if WinXP did this or not, but I am guessing no - WinXP allowed you to connect two monitors together and then it sat there looking at you as if you were a curiosity in a museum, IIRC....

I have vista and that is the method I have been using, however, it does not save this as a default and you are forced to do it each time...I've even tried saving a "display properties profile" for my ATI card, but that did not solve the problem either

I have however one question, is there a setting so as to set the monitor positioning in Display Fusion? Is there one in the Pro version?

I have a Laptop with an additional monitor mounted on the wall above it. The default for windows (or the vid card, or etc...) is that monitor 2 will be to the right of the primary screen, however you can go in and change it so that monitor 2 is at any position in relation to the primary monitor. Only problem is that this setting is not saved and you are forced to go through the menu's and reset it each time you reboot...

if it is not included in DisplayFusion, does anyone have any suggestions? Or maybe this setting could be considered in future versions of DisplayFusion. ]]>
