OK, am eagerly awaiting 3.1, then :) The programs this happens with are fairly basic, one would hope, although you never can trust Microsoft. :) The flashing happens with Firefox, Outlook, IE, and Remote Desktop Connection. Unfortunate to tell, but it is fairly complicated and close to impossible to find out this information - whether buttons are flashing or have flashed in the task bar. There are very ugly and very unreliable solutions that you definitely wouldn't like to have in a application that runs all the time. Thank god Jon didn't decide to implement this, and this makes his tool a bit superior to others in which I noticed this functionality was broken.

We can blame it on the other developers in the past who abused the methods to blink the buttons - causing great annoyance to users - that this information is intentionally hidden in the Windows shell.

Let's hope that Jon Tackabury can find a reliable way to find it out eventually, at least a load of other people would be happy to know it too. :-)

And for myself, I guess it is not that hard to have a peek at my task bar from time to time. However, I ran a couple of times into a very annoying issue, and I wonder if this is a bug or missing feature.

Mostly I place my Office Communicator chat windows on my second monitor, so I can easily overview all my chats while working on my main monitor. Usually when I receive a new message, the task bar button for the receiving window would blink a few times orange and then remain highlighted in orange.

This is not happening with windows on my second monitor that have their buttons in the DisplayFusion task bar.
Therefore I've missed some conversations in the past as the buttons appear in the far left of my screen where I won't look all the time.

Please fix the bug or enable a feature where windows that should become active are highlighted orange.
