The free version installer of gphotoshow does not install correctly on x64 system. It stores gphotoshow.scr at C:\Windows instead of C:\Windows\System32. So users just have to make this manual move to the C:\Windows\System32. Actually, it should go into the C:\Windows\SysWOW64 folder because it is a 32-bit screensaver. However, DisplayFusion does not find it unless it is in the 64-bit System32 folder.

gphotoshow has settings that permits users to select where the pictures are to be found and all the selectable settings of Microsoft's photo screensaver. :-)

And a sexy feature is that music can be selected to play when the screensaver is running. 8-)

DisplayFusion does not quite handle it correctly via the settings window. For some reason, Microsoft put a check to make sure another screen saver isn't active and won't run when it is. Unfortunately, this means that it will never run because the DisplayFusion screen saver is active. I have documented this in the new FAQ:

1. If I turn off DisplayFusion Screensaver and select Photos as the screensaver in Control PanelDisplayPersonalizationScreenSaver, the photos do rotate after the screen saver starts.

2. If I use DisplayFusion Screensaver and go to Control PanelDisplayPersonalizationScreenSaver and select "Preview" with DisplayFusion Screensaver selected, the pictures do rotate.

3. With the DisplayFusion Screensaver on, when the Photos screensaver starts, the first picture appears and the mouse cursor goes busy and continues to show busy until I click. The pictures do not rotate.

The above occurs on Win 7 x64 and Win 7 x86. The pictures are located in the Windows 7 default "My Pictures" folder. I'm wondering if Photoscreensaver.scr has some settings that need to be set...such as how frequently to change pictures. I don't see a way to get to the settings for this particular screensaver.

When I go to Control PanelDisplayPersonalizationScreen Saver, there is no PhotoScreenSaver.scr showing in the list.

When selecting Microsoft supplied PhotoScreenSaver.scr as the selected screensaver, the first picture in the display set appears. However, the pictures do not change or rotate. The first picture is the only one displayed. In the Settings screen, the preview shows the pictures rotating as they should.

This is on Windows 7 x86 Professional and also on Windows 7 x64 Professional. ]]>
