I understand that might be impossible, but I have a suggestion for a workaround. If you cannot hook into resize-dragging, then perhaps you can listen for when the resize has finished. At that point, you can look to see if the window edges are close to a snap boundary and adjust the window position/dimensions to snap to those edges at that point.

For me, personally, I actually prefer my shortcut key solution these days because it's super fast.

I think this thread has split off into requests for different functionality as well. The original request was to have a window snap to another window when dragging it to resize. At any rate, the original request is still open on our list but I don't have an ETA, sorry
For the time being, you'll be able to make this happen by setting up some shortcut keys that execute custom commands to move/resize a window to a corner of the screen and set its size in %. Not quite as cool as dragging, but it'll work. You just make the custom command before assigning a key to it. No scripting necessary.

I usually use the Windows Key + numpad buttons to do window management since they don't conflict with anything else. For example, Win+Numpad4 moves a window to the left half, while Ctrl+Win+Numpad4 Moves it to the left and makes the width 66%.

Hello,

Is this still in development? I bought displayfusion today, hoping that I'd be able to improve the use of the standard Win + left/right functions in windows. It would be awesome if DisplayFusion could use these function but set customised window size. For example, I want to use Win + Left/Right to automatically split my windows to thirds rather than half monitor size while also retaining the up function which splits the window up or down. Also resize option in that resizing one window adjusts the size of the adjacent window would be incredible.

I hope to hear back! This functionality would make the app perfect! Using custom functions to split windows to 1/3s is not idea since it doesn't work with auto resizing and other split functionality.

I use autohotkey with WindowPadX
https://github.com/hoppfrosch/WindowPadX
This windows plus number pad provides a solid way to resize, AND move windows from monitor to monitor.

The second is that the "grid" showing up for dividing windows into sections be allowed on nonminimized windows by allowing drag with middle mouse button or other chosen qualifier key. This is a great way to allow snapping, without having extra work.

I can provide a gif to show the process if you wish.
I'm not sure exactly how often I'll be using all these wild new features, but in principle, I can definitely say that Winsplit, as a dedicated window manager, is far more flexible for making advanced window layouts, compared to DisplayFusion, which is limited to maximize, center, and all the 1/2 and 1/4 screen poses. Having the extra customization options to do things like 33/66% etc. is what might make this a keeper... as well as it being freeware, of course.

I looked at your config, and lo and behold, I had already implemented part of what you had - namely the extra 75% widths for left and right. Nifty. I've bound my keys to be Win+Numpad as well.

Display fusion developers take note ^^^
I mean, Winsplit does the job but I worry it might disappear.
Welcome to try my config above to check it out

Learning new things every day... Yes, as xMCNUGGETx said, you can create custom functions in DisplayFusion to move the window to any of the 9 locations and resize to percentages or pixel amounts. You can then assign them to keyboard shortcuts or even titlebar buttons. That's good! However, only one command per key, so not quite as awesome as Winsplit's cycling through options with a single chord.

I've found I really take to Win + NumPad 3 for example - because I'm a huge fan of maximised applications - I always have been! I hated dragging bloody windows around with a mouse.

Now I can take an app I'm really focused on, from full screen to 25% in the bottom left corner instantly - and then get the secondary app I need to be 50% on the right..
I use a proper traditional minimise far less now due to this.
