I'm not sure, but the instructions say that it converts mouse wheel commands into scroll bar commands. I'm probably incorrect about emulating keystrokes as I suppose it can be done more directly by triggering an event on the window's scrollbar buttons.

I've tried scrolling on the keyboardtester.com page and it does not show any keypresses occuring.

A quick test makes me think that once the option is activated, WizMouse does always do its trick. There is an option to select how many lines are scrolled when the main option is active, and this even has effect on (some) windows that certainly do respond to the scroll wheel normally. Besides, I doubt there is an easy way to determine if any particular window can respond to the mouse wheel itself or not, so the only option is to always 'emulate'.

Funny thing is, I can't for the life of me find the programs that don't respond to the wheel themselves. I've been reinstalling my system over the past week and came across a few (hence thinking of making this request), but now I can't find them. I'll turn the option off and no doubt I'll come across one eventually.

I tried using DF's ability to scroll windows under the cursor that don't have focus, thinking to replace WizMouse, and quickly found out (I should say remembered) that some things don't actually support scrolling with the wheel.

WizMouse, as well as scrolling non-focus windows, emulates keystrokes to scroll windows that don't natively support the scroll wheel.

Could this be added to DF as an optional feature?

The other thing that WizMouse can do is bring the scrolling window into focus, but I've found that causes endless issues in full-screen things like games. Useful otherwise, perhaps, but that really would have to be optional.

Cheers,
Rick.
