  • Open the RDP session and login to the remote machine
  • Restore the RDP session (so that it's windowed, instead of full screen) and move it to the second monitor
  • Maximize the RDP session again, so that it's full screen on the second monitor
  • Close the RDP session
  • Launch it again (make sure the full screen option is still enabled on the Display tab)
  • It should open full screen on the second monitor this time

Thanks for the suggestion.

I've implemented it and the RDP now opnens on the 2nd screen.
However, Both the monitors have different resolutions and the RDP ressions opens with the resolution of the primary monitor, which is higher.
I can force the RDP to always open in the lowest resolution, which is fine while i'm working with 2 monitors, but that also means that the resolution will be limited when i'm working with 1 monitor.

Any ideas on how to solve this?

I recently had my laptop re-ghosted and i can't get an RDP session to open on my attached Monitor (Monitor 2).

I saved an RDP schortcut on my desktop and added a Windows Location entry to open the .RDP on my 2nd monitor. Current settings can be found in the attachement.

I've tried various settings in the Windows Location dialogue, switched the Launch Start Menu Shortcuts on current Monitor on and off, all to no avail. With the last setting on the RDP session keeps opening on the 1st monitor even if i do start it from the 2nd.

Just a few days ago on my previous installation this worked just fine and now it's driving me nuts!

*edit: I'm working on Win 7 Enterprise 64-bit
