Not sure why the desktop icons would go missing like that, but it sounds like Windows is moving them when the amp connects/disconnects. You can use DisplayFusion to solve that issue though.

Create Monitor Profiles for when the amp is on and off

Create Desktop Icon Profiles for each setup

Assign the Desktop Icon Profiles to the Monitor Profiles (click "Manage Monitor Profiles" in the DisplayFusion Monitor Configuration window to do this)

Now, when DisplayFusion detects either configuration, it will load its appropriate Desktop Icon Profile

Hope that helps!

I have just reinstalled windows and using a GTX770. I have my second display (1) connected to my home cinema amp. I have set my main pc monitor (2) as the default in windows settings and the nvidia settings, but whenever I turn my amp off the pc monitor switches to the second output with no icons. Soon as I turn it back on the icons reappear again. I have tried to tell windows/nvidia and displayfusion (damn complicated and cumbersome really) that I want my pc display as default and to duplicate/clone displays, but seems to only work when the home cinema amp is on. Soon as you turn it off.. B00M it buggers up again.

I am tempted to disable the second display until such time as I need it (just for simplicity sake), but thought I would ask here first before giving up!

Can someone please help. This is really driving me crazy!

Thanks,
