Hey I just want to add that I purchased a 32:9 ultrawide being certain that you could split it into 2 virtual monitors with the likes of DF. I am still baffled that its not possible at all.

I also see that this has been a feature request for 10+ years now. Could you do the entire ultrawide community a favor and try to find some solution? Maybe also use your reach to have Microsoft change/expose something. I understand that it is currently not possible to do, but if some devs could change something about it I guess it would be the most prominent tool for display management, rigth?

Additional INFO - I'm testing VDM for last several days for a buissness purpose, and what I have learned that might help you.
Tested on DELL Precision Laptop with Dell 4K screen.
Screen has been splitted to 4 smaller (2 by 2)
VDM works fine with Excel, Word, Outlook, Edge, Chrome, Youtube all of them in Full Screen. That includes YT/Chrome/Edge 4 instances as Full Screen - see attachment as proof.

UDM - is like most available softwares upgraded and more fancy Power Tools / Split Screen with a lot of nice settings that might help a lot of people - unfortunately Full Screen option is rising on demand due to requirements of the market in programming and viewing different types of data in various industries.

This option should be implemented to all of the software whatever it is - Power Tool, UDM, VDM or any other. Whoever will do it first with full implementation - will grab huge chunk of the market.

And in my opinione it is something to "fight" for.

Unfortunately - VDM doesnt work for what I needed.... yet.

To clarify the ishadow.com VDM solution will allow you to maximize full screen ONE (1) display and depending on your setup it is possible to also enable ONE (1) full screen Virtual display inside of a split regardless of the number of splits you create. So best case scenario is that 2 splits will be ablet run true full screen apps.

This is however very dependent on the program. Scenarios which will not work is using one program to have two full screen windows. For instance... You couldnot have two Chrome F11 full screen windows as when you try to enable the second one the first one will revert to non full screen. However you may be able to utilize two different browser engines in order to accomplish this like say Chrome/Opera/Brave and Firefox/Waterfox.

The same is the case for applications that have multiple windows.

YMMV for sure with this and deoending on your etup this might not even work as stated above. in which case I recommend simply utilizing maximized window state and hiding the windows UI elements with autohotkey. Unless you have very unique programs with their own very custom UI this is probably the solution for most people looking to accomplish "full screen" segmented splits.

I have confirmed that this is a limitation with the windows display manager that can not be remedied by third party utilities and must be updated by Microsoft.
The ckosest thing I have found to a workaround is using the utilities from ishadow.com. A combination of virtual display manager and VDM SAndbox seems to enable the use case some are asking for. Again however there is a limitation of only one virtual display in the windows display manager system.

Another option would be to utilize Virtual Machines to run instances of separate OS installations and then having those VMs borderless window. There are a few ways of doing this, but editing the window viewable UI assets with autihotkey is my preferred method as it is easily made a toggle those less automatated than you may want after say a reboot as would have to initialize all of the VMs again, toggle each window border/titlebars, and perhaps lock movement of certain windows using other utilities.

For everyone looking at just having a borderless floating Youtube video window you can utilize Youtube Enhancer extension in Chrome to enable popout PIP window. Instead, however, I would recommend switching to Opera or more specifically Opera GX and the popout function for video playback is by far the best without any extension needed in the Opera GX browser. You can also pin it to make sure it stays on top of any window you may open afterward.

Hope this helps some people!

Could I please add myself to the list of people interested in this feature being added. I have two ultrawide monitors, side by side. I split them in various ways using DF and it's invaluable for doing so. However, VMWare is a problem, as is VLC in full screen, and stuff like Youtube. Mostly I don't want a 3440x1440 video, especially when I'm used to most apps maximising to my monitor profile splits.
