Jon,
It's not really virtual desktop either. In virtual desktop I still have to manually open each data file.

Think of it this way, in many programming tools you have project files. When you open them, they open a set of data files that have all different kinds of extensions.

I want the same thing, but for user data files like .DOC, .PPT and for explorer windows pointed to certain file locations.

It could be combined with virtual desktops, but the idea is to automate the open and close of a group of homogeneous data files that have to do with one project.

Not all of these files are always in the same folder either - so it provides a single place to go to find them.

It's one of those things where everyone working on Windows takes for granted they must hunt around and open all their files to do with single project and open them manually and close them manually.

Yet - if they had something like this they would probably fall over backward saying "Oh my goodness, I so obviously need something like this - why hasn't it been done already?"

I am a registered user of DisplayFusion and loving it!

I was wondering if anyone here knows of a true workspace manager?

I would like to be able to "open a workspace" and have Windows open all the data files I had previously opened in that workspace and explorer windows open to the file locations.

This is NOT a multi-desktop manager where I have to manually open all those things each time I want to use them. Would also be great if it closed all the data files when I closed the workspace.

I can't believe this isn't out there somewhere - for goodness sake it was built into OS/2 2.0 over 15 years ago!

I don't know what to call it besides "workspace" - so if there are some synonymous terms that I should Google for, please let me know.

Anyway, would be very helpful for managing multiple, multi-file projects
