This new build works! VMware runs virtual machines without any problem but I have to note that this setting "General: Force Process to be Launched Internally" makes vmware throw error again. It's still labelled as version 4.2.0, but it has a newer build time (8:45pm GMT-5). If this build still doesn't work, can you open the Advanced Settings window and enable the setting called "General: Force Process to be Launched Internally"? Set this setting to "Processes will bypass the external launcher". You don't need to restart DisplayFusion after changing this setting. I'm very hopeful that this new build (attached) will fix the problem without the need for the Advanced Setting. :)

Anyway disabling application hooks didnt work but I tried to mess around and it turns out that if I run vmware from native windows start menu everything works fine! Could you try disabling the Application Hooks in the DisplayFusion Advanced Settings, then restart your machine and try to power on a VM again? If it works, try re-enabling the Hooks and restarting again to confirm that it's the Hooks that break it?

I have downgraded to 4.1 and it works fine then updated to beta 4.2 v6 and problem occured again. So the fix for now is to use 4.1 but all future updates will obviously fail.
Looks like the problem is realted to something in 4.2 v6 but It's hard to say what is so differend in my PC that you can't reproduce the problem. After installing latest beta 4.2.0 v6 (Im 100% sure that this is the exact version causing the problem because all versions before it including 4.2.0 v5 were not causing any problems) I am unable to run any virtual machines and I get an error in VMWare "Cannot find a valid peer process to connect to" (which is of course not related to your team). After googling I didnt find any solution but there is a note from VMWare team:

This issue occurs when you are running VMware Workstation and another organizations virtualization at the same time. Running Workstation and another organizations virtualization software simultaneously on the same system is not supported.

VMware recommends uninstalling the other virtualization software to allow Workstation to operate without errors.


So I turned off display fusion (the only software that have changed recently) and magically VMWare started working. I don't know what has been changed in display fusion but it has to be fixed if anybody wants to use both applications at same time (like me). ]]>
