I'd be happy to look into it further if you want to send over a debug log. On my system when I test, Chrome opens on the monitor it was launched from when it's the first window.<br/>
<br/>
Steps to send a debug log:<br/>
<ul class="ListBullet">
<li>On the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "L1: Log Minimal" and click Apply</li>
<li>Try launching the first instance of Chrome</li>
<li>Click the "Export Info to File" button on the Settings > Troubleshooting tab</li>
<li>Reply with the file attached</li>
<li>Disable debug logging after sending the log</li></ul>
<br/>
Regarding links opened from existing Chrome windows, that's expected as well. We don't force new windows of the same app to open on the monitor you're on, unless you use a Trigger rule with the Frequency set to Always. Is this behaviour happening on your machine with or without the Trigger rule?

<br/>
At any rate, this is how that option on the Window Management tab works. First window of the process only. To do what you want to do, the Trigger rule with the Frequency set to "Always" is the way to go.<br/>
<br/>
Thanks!</div></div><br/>
<br/>
Just for the sake of it, I went through this scenario and actually went to the task manager and made sure that Chrome.exe was no longer running after shutting down all Chrome windows. The bug persists... a NEW instance of Chrome without the programmed trigger is going to open on the monitor where Chrome was last used.<br/>
<br/>
Secondly, your reply makes no reference to what I noticed about links not opening on the monitor where they originate.<br/>
<br/>
So, you may want to revise your reply and say that is SUPPOSED to work that way because I have just laid out that IT DOES NOT WORK that way.

<br/>
Yes, I can understand that, but then it STILL isn't working correctly. Because after receiving your reply, I deleted the trigger, shut down all chrome processes and Chrome STILL WON´T open on the main monitor UNLESS the last instance of chrome was closed on that monitor. Secondly, there IS NO REASON for that option to even exist if it was laid out that way, it's NOT logical. If I have Chrome pinned to each taskbar, Chrome should open on the monitor where I pressed the shortcut, it's that simple.<br/>
<br/>
I have now noticed other behavior that needs tweaking... let's say I open a weblink from another application and I have 3 instances of Chrome running, one on each monitor... I would think that the weblink would open on the Chrome instance on the same monitor. Sadly, it's not like that. The weblink opens on the monitor where the last instance of Chrome was opened. Example... Chrome on all 3 monitors... I open a PDF that has a weblink on my main monitor... the last Chrome windows that was opened is on monitor 3... when I click that link it opens on monitor 3, not the Chrome on my main monitor...

Good morning to all. I am having a similiar situation as the OP with Chrome windows. I have 3 monitors, may main monitor (1), my second monitor on the left (2) and my third monitor on the right (3). I have Chrome pinned to all 3 taskbars. I have the option in settings checked to open applications on the current monitor as well. <br/>
<br/>
If Chrome is open on either monitor 2 or 3 and I want to open Chrome on monitor 1, it doesn't work. If I close all Chrome windows on all monitors and want to open Chrome on my main monitor, the laptop, I have to drag it from the monitor from where closed Chrome, whether it be 2 or 3. BUT if I open Chrome from the taskbar shortcut on the monitor, it WILL open on THAT monitor.<br/>
<br/>
Another example... let's say I close Chrome on monitor 2. If I go to monitor 3 and open Chrome, Chrome actually opens on monitor 2 where the last Chrome instance was located but then it snaps by itself over to monitor 3, where I was attempting to open it. This instance is also true in the reverse, if I close Chrome on 3 and then go to open it on 2, Chrome opens on 2 and then snaps over to 3 by itself. The ONLY way to open Chrome on my main monitor on the laptop is to drag the last open window of Chrome to my laptop main monitor and the next time I open Chrome from my laptop's taskbar it will open there. Also, if I open Chrome from the taskbar of monitor 2 or 3, JUST THAT ONE TIME, Chrome will open on the main monitor 1 and then snap to the monitor from where Chrome was opened, after that Chrome will no longer flash nor open on laptop monitor because it has been opened on one of the other 2 monitors.

<br/>
Actually, either would be very useful. For the most part, I mean launch Word in the same location on the same monitor each time, but I can also see a use for launching a specific document in a specific location, though since that is a particular document, it could be done easily with a specific launch shortcut or rule I would think. So the main need I think is to "launch any word doc in a new word instance, in a specific location on a specific monitor".

Wow, years later I get to read this and it has solved my Google Chrome window launch problem that has bugged me for months and <i>months</i>.<br/>
<br/>
I have several Google Chrome windows open simulataneously, each with several tabs (logically separated into different topics).<br/>
<br/>
The problem is that if you launch another Chrome windows it places it on the monitor where the MOST RECENT such windows is (or was, if you have minimised it) - and at the same size too.<br/>
<br/>
So I have Internet radio playing in a smallish window on my left monitor. I launch another window and it gets place effectively on top of this window. Not what I want at all, as I have to drag it to the correct (right, main) monitor and resize it too.<br/>
<br/>
Now by adding two trigger rules, I told DF to move any such Chrome window to the window with the cursor in it and then resize it to a 75% window.<br/>
<br/>
Brilliant. Thank you Binary Fortress.

OK, I want something similar, but I think it's different. When I launch an application by launching a file (e.g. something.docx) I want Word to launch with a specified window size and position on a specified monitor. Is this possible with DF somehow? Basically I want to set a rule that says "whenever this app starts, position it here..." <br/>
<br/>
From the above, I see how to write a script that launches an app and positions it, but I don't want to write a script for every file I might want to launch <img src="https://www.displayfusion.com/MediaCommon/SVGs/FontAwesome/face-smile.light.svg" alt=":)" style="box-sizing:border-box;position:relative;overflow:hidden;vertical-align:middle !important;width:16px;height:16px;" HelpButtonData=":)" HelpButtonDataAlign="BelowMiddle" /> <br/>

Hey guys<br/>

I stumbled on this thread and was curious if there was a way to "lock" the window sizing when displayed on the monitor?<br/>
<br/>
For instance on one of my monitors I use it as a "quick glance control center" with my LogMeIn client and RingCentral app on top of each other sharing the screen at 50% each. (They take up say 500 pixels wide and then divide the height by 50%)
