No, I do not have the "bypass the Windows 8 start screen" option enabled. And I do not use any third party start menu replacements. With DP installed, I have to hit the Windows key to go to my desktop, then hit the Windows key to get back to the Metro screen, then start typing my search entry. Or, I can hit Win+F and start typing.

Obviously, this isn't a disaster, as I now have to hit only one more key. But I do believe it's a bug, and you may want to check it out.
