Once it is released you should be able to rely on it, just like the Windows taskbar. It doesn't rely on polling every x seconds, it receives notifications and updates instantly.

That update frequency sounds about right as I watch the timer, but for the work I do, I need more precision. I can have the app itself open and see a more accurate time, but that's a waste of screen real estate.

Also, there's a very distracting bright white flashing of the entire part of the taskbar below the buttons that I can't tie to anything specific yet. It happens a couple times a minute. I've noticed some dodgy behavior on the part of the Windows 7 nVidia drivers, so they might be the culprit. But in the meantime, the part that flashes wouldn't be visible at all if I could shrink the taskbar.

The behavior you're experiencing (in terms of the flashy white stuff) I am nto seeing at all in Windows 7 - I had been using the WDDM 1.1 pre-release drivers from Windows Update (181.82?) but last night I updated to hte latest WDDM 1.1 drivers, 185.85 (updated through Windows Update). I have 'upgraded' my basic 3.0.4 install with a couple of beta releases but I can try to revert it to a regular 3.0.4 install and see if I can replicate your issues.

BTW, what video card are you running? No matter the value of TaskbarsHeightOverride, the DF Pro taskbars on monitors 2 & 3 remain at the same height as the Windows 7 taskbar on monitor 1. Rebooting, logging off, etc., makes no difference.

Also, there is a huge lag in updating the text in the taskbar button. I use a couple programs that have timestamp info in the button, and it needs to be current or it's useless!

One of the settings allows you to manually set the taskbar height (in pixels). It may take a bit of trial and error to find a good size, but it is definitely possible.
