This is probably other MS programs such as Windows Media Player, MS Office or Internet Explorer checking for updates.  Go through your settings on your other MS programs and make sure that any auto updates are turned off.

Very strange. Can you tell what address DisplayFusion is trying to access? The only other thing that it could be is Windows checking the digital signing certificate. If DisplayFusion is trying to access any www.binaryfortress.com addresses there is probably a bug somewhere and I'd love to know the exact address. If it's trying to access a Microsoft server, it's just the certificate validation (because DisplayFusion is digitally signed to prevent tampering).
