This is probably other MS programs such as Windows Media Player, MS Office or Internet Explorer checking for updates. Can you tell what address DisplayFusion is trying to access? The only other thing that it could be is Windows checking the digital signing certificate. If DisplayFusion is trying to access any www.binaryfortress.com addresses there is probably a bug somewhere and I'd love to know the exact address. I have it configured in the settings to "not" check for updates automatically, so I'm wondering why it should be making requests to go on the net.
