It looks like DisplayFusion is using the .JPG because the transitions are disabled in Windows. I've done as you requested and even though both source files are PNG files, the JPG file is selected. Note that both a Wallpaper_1.jpg and a Wallpaper_1.png are created in the AppData folder.

The log should only contain the wallpaper change at 11:55h

Could you send over a debug log after changing the wallpaper?
  • On the Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "L1: Log Minimal"
  • Restart DisplayFusion
  • Reproduce the issue and note the time so we'll know where to check in the log file
  • Send us the DisplayFusion.log and DebugInfo.html files (can be found by clicking the Open Log button on the Troubleshooting tab)
  • Disable debug logging after sending the log

One jpeg and one png file. What happens now is it selects the jpeg one and shows me the lower quality (especially on hard edges) jpeg file instead of the png.
What I would LOVE displayfusion to do, is automatically select the PNG format file. As there is no disadvantage to this.

The only way to bypass this now is to go into Windows it's wallpaper manager and select the png file. Which is a hassle to do every time and shouldn't be necessary.

Can someone please explain to me if there is a setting that changes this behavior and if there isn't please make it one in the next release and maybe even have it default to the PNG format.
The jpeg quality wasn't ever too much of an issue on Windows7 but on Win8 onward it has been terrible. ]]>
