Just came across this software to manage my windows better after purchasing an ultrawide monitor. After some research, I found this thread and I have the same exact problem as described here. Clicking and dragging the window out of the maximized does not remember the previous window size and remains the same size. This is actually obnoxiously annoying. I'm disappointed that this is my biggest drawback from using Display Fusion and it's still not fixed 11 months after this thread's last post.

v9.4 Beta 6 - Win10 1803 17134.441

Update:
It doesn't seem to work with Chrome, but does with other windows.

One other thing I noticed is that the Window isn't minimized towards the mouse cursor. This makes it seem like the cursor floats in "empty space" while it's actually connected to the Window that it's dragging. [windowdrag-update.mp4]

I've included a video with expected behavior (Win10 native) to show what I mean.
[expected behavior.mp4]

Included a Widescreen Surround example where the Nvidia SmartMaxx app - which is included with the driver - handles this.
It has it's own problems and is disabled when DF installs, but does this part well.
In contrast to DF implementation, it also switches between maximize/minimize icons like Windows does, perhaps that's a clue in that it uses some exisiting part of Windows to "really" maximize within boundaries [MultiScreen - Nvidia Smartmax.mp4]

What I can do is provide you with the steps I take when performing a clean install:

- Remove Displayfusion & Settings
- Restart
- Install DisplayFusion
- Goto display configuration => Automatic split of Eyefinity and Nvidia Surround
- Apply
- Maximize a window.
- Drag it by the titlebar [edit]

I just found out: When I click the "maximize" icon in the top right, it does return to it's original size. However, when I drag it. It doesn't, while it does return to it's original size without DF. Could that be the issue?

If it is, would it then be possible to also revert to the original size when dragging the title bar?

The Nvidia SmartMaxApp is buggy as hell. One thing it does right though is that it retains the default Windows behaviour to remember the previous window-size after dragging a maximized window. [edit]

Could this be implemented in DisplayFusion as well?

My reasons:

I find my desktop cluttered with windows that are the full size of my screen after a couple of max- and minimizes.

I have to move a maximized window out of my screen estate to view a window behind. Thus I can't view all the information of both windows at the same time. Alternatively I have to resize it, which takes a lot more fiddling and time.

All programs that I have once maximized open in the size of my full screen resolution since Windows remembers the previous window size. Unless I manually resize them after a maximize. In the case of notepad, I may want to maximize it sometimes; but most of the time I just want to make a quick note.

I would really like to use DisplayFusion on a daily basis but I find myself uninstalling it everytime after dealing with this behaviour for a while.
