I have found that it seems to replicate the Windows function of hiding the desktop icons. You can do this by right-clicking an empty place on the Desktop, then View and Check/Uncheck Show Desktop Icons. Ditto to @Brenku's sentiments. That's some impressive code! I have tested on my system and it works great.

I noticed if I reboot my PC with my icons hid, it restarts in that state. Is that normal? That's fine, but was surprised they remained hid.

This code is above my level of expertise, so is it possible to segregate the hiding to a particular monitor only?

I was using 'Fences' as a desktop app alongside DisplayFusion just for the quick hide functionality. I can now do everything I like with DisplayFusion. I actually have used a small utility for years to accomplish toggling "hiding" the desktop icons and running it again shows them. For instance, when I want to run my rainmeter desktop filling both monitors with fully laid-out skins/widgets, I need to hide my icons and vice versa when closing it.

So a built-in feature to do this would be fantastic as well as perhaps a function (or guidance) to also accomplish this within a DF function. Unfortunately, I do not have the source code to the utility I use and I remember playing with this years ago and determining to fully emulate right-clicking the desktop and togging off "show desktop icons", not only did I have to play with API calls, but if I recall there was also an issue of forcing a refresh similar to F5 of the desktop. For me the ideal 'hotkey' would be holding the control key, and then left clicking the show desktop button in the bottom corner (which would minimize all windows and show the desktop icons)

EDIT: also double clicking the desktop would be a good secondary method ]]>
