Surprisingly, I couldn't find this in the forum. I use GPhotoShow as a photo screensaver and they have an algorithm that allows you to weight the random photo selection based on different metadata. For example, I can weight posts taken in the last month at 50, in the last 6 months at 20, 5 stars as 100, 54 as 43, 3 as 20 etc. or even based on other EXIF tags like camera and tags. This ensures that more of the photos I want come up, and I can deprioritise stuff I don't want (e.g. screenshots of whiteboards at the office with the "work" tag). This might be quite a job to write but it would be cool.
