window class = unchecked. close out, come back in. checked again. Same with process filename. i moved on to a simple adjustment to the window location size and low and behold, thats not saving either.

I can reproduce some of the Window Snapping wonkiness here, we'll see what we can do there for sure.

I can't reproduce that issue with the window snapping over the edge of the monitor though, is that only happening with a particular application?

sorry, got this as i was hitting the hay last night and then forgot about it.

so i was just about to show you a screenshot of 4 very different applications stacked that were all doing it when i realized what the heck was going on.

its the steroid-snapping! They literally shoot past the edge and try to grip onto the edge of applications on the other monitor lol.

so ultimately theres no independent issue, it just goes back to the snapping changes that were made and any potential refinements that may need to be made.

Ooooof. sorry it took so long. had to eat w/ the fam.

Whelp, went back to opening a gazillion windows. opened DF and went to the windows profiles section, double clicked - and this time i didnt get the notification or creation of the new profile/resizing

I went and hit my hotkey just in case you guys made it seamless/silent at this point, and poof - windows all over hells half acre again

rolled back, reset, re updated and did it a 2nd time. That did it. I think we're there. Some minor adjustments to be made but otherwise The saga may be coming to a close. Minus this hardcore-snapping ill have to figure the best way around.

If i take a window and snap it to the side of another window and hit my WPP hotkey, it moves to where its "supposed" to be, then auto snaps back to the side of the other window it was previously snapped to lol. and nevermind trying to move a window thats on top of another window I think its gonna have to be hotkey or bust. its aggressive enough that hotkey to snap should be the default now imo lol

while im here, and before i forget again, is this functional only for the transition between versions, or does this now auto adjust profiles depending on your scaling setting? Just curious for the future. I'm gunning for larger monitors one day so i can do away with the high dpi scaling
yea i can agree with that (the portion on overshooting). As a workaround im considering enabling the modifier for it for now.

Perhaps if theres a way to only have snapping go into effect if the window is moving under a certain velocity threshold. Unsure if that would help but in my case when i try to mvoe my explorer window which has a window on 3 sides of it, it becomes like tethered pingpong, looks awful trying to initiate its movement lol.

fortunately its you guys who get to make the calls on how best to implement things. also fortunate that the overwhelming majority of the time it seems you get it spot on

well, rolling back again. this certainly got me closer. after opening ~65 applications and having my 65% of my cpu at use at idle and 18gb of memory, it managed to update everything except explorer. I think it may have missed explorer due to having several tabs open (i use groupy).

either way, NBD i'd just update it manually. But the bug i mentioned earlier reared its head. I tried to update the explorer.exe profile to the proper size and it wouldnt take. I'd drag the crosshair to the window, it would enter the sizes, i would close/apply and try my hotkey and it would be the non updated size again.

Id open it back up, and the settings never applied or saved to the profile.

I'll venture that once thats fixed ill be able to repeat this process one last time and be good to go going forward

as for snapping, i have it at the default (i think?) of 10. Ill try reducing it and see how it behaves and report back on that as well.

Thanks for the feedback! For the Window Position Profiles, the issue there is that different apps have different border sizes, but we can't tell unless the window is open, so we don't know how much to adjust it by.

I hate to make more work for you, but if you do this, it should correctly adjust those windows too (I should have mentioned that earlier, sorry):

Roll back to 9.6.1 and restore your old profile.

Open as many of the apps in the profile as you can (especially the ones like Slack that have custom window borders.

Try loading the profile (this won't update the values permanently, it will adjust them on the fly), it should adjust them properly because it can measure the borders before it moves them.

If everything looks good, edit the profile in the settings window and let it update the values permanently.

For the Window Snapping, what's your snap distance set to? If you reduce it, is it less aggressive?

Also worth inquiring, did you guys alter something with the snapping? its on steroids now. Trying to move windows tethers them pretty strongly and they are fighting me to go back into place and snap. Seems to be related to snapping on all sides which im all for (as well as snapping on resizing! #reminder)

If it was strengthened, perhaps a setting to A) choose which sides snap and B) choose the tether strength as it is in 9.6.1 its weak enough that you can almost "miss" it, but in the new beta its so strong its janky looking if you try to move something it judders all over if other windows are next to it.

If it cant be made user adjustable, definitely lean towards the former imo.

either way, thank you for working so closely with your userbase. in all honesty, its the exception nowadays and invaluable on many levels.
