Yes. You write a applet wrapper that does the keytapping for you. An example i wrote you'll find here for setting audioendpoints.

I'm sorry, I should've used the more common term: "Editions." There are five editions of Windows 7. Basic and Starter are not available as boxed software; they are only preinstalled by PC manufacturers. I do not know if Winkey+P works on these. You're buying an upgrade, so this doesn't really apply.

By driver, I simply meant that the only way to know 100% for sure is to find someone who has an Nvidia 9600 GT card, who's using the exact same driver. I haven't heard of major problems with Nvidia this time around (they were pretty bad when Vista came out). But I can't vouch for it personally, because I prefer ATI cards.

If you clone, then it doesn't matter which one is primary, they're both displaying identical things. If you extend, then it matters which one is primary. See screenshot (right click on Desktop, select Screen Resolution). "Duplicate" is the equivalent of clone -- see attached screenshot.

You do not need Nview or Displayfusion or anything else -- just a driver that exposes the proper interface to Windows.

I don't remember if Basic and Starter have this functionality. But these SKUs are not sold as upgrades. I'm thinking about making the step from Win XP to Win 7 with my Geforce 9600 GT, but i'm concerned about the functioning of the TV-out via Svideo for watching movies on my TV set. Right now I'm using the "clone" button in Nview, but I know Nvidia dropped Nview with Win Vista. Is it possible to use "cloning" in Display Fusion for watching movies on my TV via the Svideo TV-out? Hope to hear from you.
