If you installed as an admin user, when you try to restore the settings, they'll restore to that user's registry, not the currently logged in one. Here are a couple of things to try:

  • Restart DisplayFusion
  • Restore the settings again

If the above doesn't work, try this:

  • Exit DisplayFusion (important!)
  • Double-click the backup (.reg) file in File Explorer, choose Yes to import
  • Start DisplayFusion

Oddly, the Restore seems to complete, but my Window Position profiles are not visible in DisplayFusion. Diving into the registry, I don't see any profiles under HKCU, and HKEY_USERS is unreadable since my regular user account is not a local admin.

I then opened the registry as my local admin account, and the profiles were now in HKCU. Since I was admin, I could also open my regular user in HKEY_USERS and saw there was no profile keys there. I was able to copy the profile key values into Notepad, but unable to paste all that text into new string keys I created.

Is this the way it's supposed to work? Did I miss some steps? ]]>
