The difference is slightly larger than that.  The win7 taskbar highlights the image even if the cursor never leaves the taskbar itself.  DF doesn't do the initial highlight until the first time I mouse over the thumbnail.

Actually on farther inspection, the problem only exists if I middle click the frame of the thumbnail.  Clicking the picture works on both taskbars but the native one also closes windows if I only mouse up a few pixels and have my cursor over the frame.  DF's requires me to be far enough up that the image highlights itself.<br/>

Edit:  I guess this gives new meaning to the phrase edge condition.
