I'm using an http://www.mimomonitors.com/products/imo as an "extended system tray".
It sits below just below the system tray on my main monitor and holds the windows Pandora app, my file sync app, a Winamp controller, and a small timer app. There's no need to switch between the apps as they all fit on the screen for quick access; which is the normal reason one wants an app to show up in the taskbar. However, the screen is so small I'd like to utilize every inch of it.

Come to think if it, the feature I'm really asking for is "Auto-hide the taskbar" on a per taskbar basis. That would fit in with general Windows taskbar behavior and solve my use case. Thoughts?
