I would hate to see such a great full featured program as DF be bastardized by a suite of semi-useless utilities that you can get other places.

I own Nero. What a mistake. It's a cluster f**k at best. I now use CD burner XP. Free and simple.

I do hope the boys at BFS keep it simple, and let DF does what it does best.

Case in point - Nero Burning ROM.
I've used it for donkey's years but it's grown from a small functional package to massive circa 1GB bloatware that tries to do everything and be everything to everyone. ie "take over the system" type software.
Everyone HATES IT for what it's become!
I do too, which is why I just run the portable version...
It's lost touch with its primary purpose - to burn cd's/dvd's.

Dead pixels are like bad sectors - the bad old days of them existing are virtually gone.

Want to run apps on multiple screens - use DF.

As you yourself said - adding pixel testing would put it "over the top". I agree but in a different sense

Because as I see it DF already has tons of options for managing and manipulating multiple monitor setups (including things like changing your Windows logon screen, screen spanning, and virtual desktops, which can be found in other products as well), and something like monitor testing falls right in line with those.

Seems like this is a feature that would be very the realm of DF, and would put it over the top in terms of functionality. Even if initially there were just some of the more basic features, like changing one or more selected screens to a solid color (normally: red, blue, green, white, gray, or black), that would help in detecting dead pixels.

Not sure if you could get away with using image files for some of the more complex patterns (like orientation tests, contrast tests). But advanced testing can always be added down the line.

Something similar to the "Nokia Monitor Test" or the "Prad Eizo Monitor Test" applications? The Nokia app is ancient, and doesn't run on newer versions of Windows, and the Prad app doesn't really handle multiple monitors all that well. I'd really like a way to easily check my monitors for things like dead pixels, iffy cabling, and proper screen orientations.

I think this would be an awesome feature addition for Display Fusion, and I know a few others who would appreciate it as well. ]]>
