Windows 7N Pro x64. Aero options are 100% gone from the Visual Effects tab of Performance Options window and the Window Color option in the Personalization window opens the old-school Windows 98-like 'Window Color and Appearance" dialog.

I tried uninstalling DisplayFusion.
I tried new display drivers.
I tried every registry hack I could find.
I tried sfc scan.
I tried more googling and ended up here, hurray.

Between that and the DPI scaling issues (which DisplayFusion also can't affect), it sounds like there might be some issues with your video card drivers. It always returns that it cannot locate the problem.

I was able to reenable aero and then reapply the wallpaper and have have the aero disabled. I have attached the logs that should include this event. Also, something to check, is the Properties > Compatibility tab for both DisplayFusion.exe and DisplayFusionSettings.exe, as well as their shortcuts on the Start menu, to see if any of the boxes (specifically "Disable Desktop Composition") are enabled. Would you be able to send over a debug log after fixing Aero, and then applying the wallpaper again?
  • On the Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "Logging: Important Only"
  • Restart DisplayFusion
  • Reproduce the issue, note the time so we'll know where to check in the log file
  • Send us the DisplayFusion.log and DebugInfo.html files (can be found by clicking the Open Log button on the Troubleshooting tab)
  • Disable debug logging after sending the log

Before applying the wallpaper, Displayfusion.exe and displayfusionsettings.exe are occupying between 80 and 90 megs of ram and cpu load is very low. During that install, I had to troubleshoot my graphics card for some reason only outputting an analog signal, and found that aero was broken.

The video card had to be RMA'd so I figured I'd wait to troubleshoot until after I installed the new card, which I have done now and found that aero is still broken. I force-enabled aero by adding the UseMachineCheck, Animations, and Blur dwords in the DWM key in the registry, which re-enabled aero succesfully, but when I went back into displayfusion and re-applid my wallpaper image settings, Aero was immediately broken again. ]]>
